How about the devil's dictionary
At the beginning of 2008, a serious dictionary knocked me out and made me smile. The dictionary in my impression is like a serious old man with a white beard, serious and elegant eyebrows and beard. This dictionary, neither serious nor elegant, really looks like the NB boy in the New Longmen Inn-boning knife. The translator Mo Yaping, the owner of this knife, said that he was "serious in teasing and murderous in smiling". The smiling killer named Ann poros Bierce was extremely brave and powerful, so he carried his smile and boning knife, firmly adhered to human civilization and social rules, peeled and fleshed mercilessly, and played its arrogant "deboning method". Perhaps worried that the tone of this book is too bloody, Mo Yaping spent a lot of ink in the preface to explain Bierce's cynicism philosophy. The philosophy of cynicism has developed from Diogenes, the founder who lived in wooden barrels, to modern times. Its connotation has undergone many changes, from advocating nature at first, to attaching importance to spiritual freedom and inner virtue, and has evolved several times, resulting in cynical nihilism. Later, cynicism even evolved into a synonym for advocating fame and wealth and practical interests. Obviously, we would rather believe that Bierce's philosophical keynote is to attach importance to human morality but embrace idealism. In such a social environment with a serious lack of ideals, Bierce angrily picked up the treasure knife and implemented the "boneless method" because of love and hate. For an ordinary reader like me, Bierce's philosophy of life is not important. What moved him and attracted him deeply was his brilliant wisdom under his criticism or ridicule or humorous or pungent remarks. Nowadays, in this world, fast food in thinking, such as the number of sand in the Ganges River, and the profound and agile beauty of slow-stewing thinking are rare. What feels that this mother needs to pay a lot of pain is a doll called wisdom, because it is not close to the people and is quite unpopular. In other words, one weakness of wisdom is that it is not close to the people. I remember that Confucius, who was called "Come to drink with me in the north", said in the preface to the history of Jianghu: "Look at the martial arts characters written, this is what I really want to write. When I was in college, what I wrote was inevitably sour. " Literature and history researchers are under the banner of promoting wisdom, but they are constrained by this weakness and have to write some sour articles to deal with it. A man named Zhao once said, "In today's society, the pursuit of wisdom requires more courage than the pursuit of Zhang Ziyi. In some people's eyes, the pursuit of fun is to look at a very 6+ 1 and vote for a super girl." Zhao lamented the ignorance of wisdom and the vulgarization of taste. I guess Zhao hasn't read The Devil's Dictionary. It is both clever and interesting. Very 1+ 1. Well, yes, this is the devil's dictionary. Let's not talk nonsense. Let's lift the veil and look straight at the killer's true face: villain: an upside-down gentleman. The advantages of this kind of person are very obvious, just like strawberries in the market as samples. The good ones are on the top and the bad ones are on the bottom. Some mistakes can be made. Others started the alliance from the other side: the alliance of two thieves in international politics. Both thieves put their hands deep into each other's pockets. Therefore, it is impossible to snatch the achievements of a third party alone: the end of efforts and the beginning of boredom. Old age: at this stage of life, we liquidate those sins that we still attach great importance to. The method is to curse the followers of the evil things that we no longer have the courage to do: the pain of those followers who have not got everything they want: this is a preparation process to temper their souls so that they can better adapt to another more painful world. Oiling ceremony: Oiling the king or other senior officials, these people are slick enough. Defamation: a graduation cannon of the rumor research institute: a clerical diplomacy to correct national boundaries, a patriotic art apology for lying for the benefit of one's country: laying the groundwork for offending again in the future. Business: a process of wealth transfer-A takes C's finance from B as compensation, and B takes E's wallet from Ding's pocket. Traitor: This is a leech. It finally penetrated the shell of a turtle, which turned out to be dead, so weigh the pros and cons. Decided to cling to another living turtle. Passion: The obvious sign of blind love is beauty: the power that a woman fascinates her lover and scares her husband to death. Beast: See the word husband. Disaster: This kind of thing can remind us that what we have in this life is beyond our own arrangement. There are two kinds of disasters: one is our own misfortune, and the other is the luck of others. Hard-hearted: strong in heart, able to endure all kinds of pains and misfortunes that are afflicting another person: this is a stage of life, between the ignorance of babies and the stupidity of young people, two steps away from the evils of middle age and three steps away from the regrets of old age. Priest: This kind of person arranges the affairs of heaven for us and makes him live a better secular life. Congratulations: A polite jealousy expert: This is an expert who knows everything. I know nothing about other things: replacing deadly shells and ruthless bayonets with saliva and ink. Dialogue: Show the market of various trivial spiritual goods. Everyone participating in the exhibition plans how to put their own pots and pans while looking at other people's goods. Pirates: politicians at sea are fashionable: this is a tyrant, and wise men laugh at him and obey his loyalty. A unique virtue of people who are about to be betrayed is forgetfulness: this is a gift from God to debtors, and their conscience is not enough, so God compensates for the friendship of betraying others with forgetfulness: this is a ship that can carry two people calmly, but only one person can control greatness when the waves are stormy: what are you best at? What is the greatest habit in the world: the handcuffs of free people: this is a strange instrument, which is installed at the top of one person's arm and often inserted in another person's pocket: the port where the ship docked, the ship was far away from the storm at sea, but it was violently attacked by tariffs. Historian: gossip is sloppy; A clumsy and agile hypocrite: such a person pretends to have some virtues that he doesn't really care about. Benefit from what he despises, but benefit from what is fake. Childhood: This is a stage in our life. As Wordsworth said, "Heaven is all around us". This stage passed quickly, and then the world began to revolve around us: because of God's makeup, fools concluded this relationship with the purpose of destroying each other's justice: this is a more or less adulterated daily necessities, and the state sells it to citizens in return for their loyalty, the taxes he paid and the labor he served. Legitimacy: what conforms to the judge's will is called legitimate knowledge: an ignorant speaker makes a studious person stand out: this kind of hand is in your pocket and the tongue is in your ear. He believes in your patience and dances: it is better to hug the neighbor's wife or daughter than to dance to the creaky music. Dance has two common characteristics: one is obvious purity, and the other is that evil people love it because they are brave. One of the most remarkable virtues that a person shows when he is safe is death. That glittering destination is just a cave. This kind of person pursues happiness too enthusiastically. It's a pity that he ran too fast and left happiness behind. He hopes that others will generously support him. Because you haven't been able to force him to give you what you need: the tyrant's right to do evil and the fool's excuse to fail. Diary: The part of life in which the narrator doesn't blush when telling his own story. Celebrate the maturity of the commander in an appropriate way. Epitaph: The words written on the tombstone show that death can bring virtue and make people care about the past. Learning: Applause from the dust of books falling into empty skulls-a common way for the audience to express their holiday mood at the end of the speech. Hometown-the place where people only call you by your nickname. Entertainment: a means to encourage depression, a gentle exercise for the mentally weak. Mediocrity: this kind of person's mind is a slave to his environment, led by the fashion of thought and emotion. This kind of person is sometimes very knowledgeable, often leads a smooth life, and is generally neat. And always so formal and polite: this is the most acceptable hypocritical traitor: a person who wants to establish a new tyranny but fails to get it: recalling the past and adding something that has never happened before. In .................., the United States 19 and the beginning of the 20th century, this book is said to have caused great misunderstanding and abuse by Bierce. I didn't know much about the American trend of thought at that time. But by analogy, we can see from Li Zhi's remarks that he appreciates the other party as a contemporary democratic liberator, but when he brazenly "denies" the sanctity of the sage's words, isn't it also regarded as a vicious attack by heretics? The killer Bierce's sober and spicy anatomy is like a surgeon, holding a bright scalpel and digging up the carrion of civilization everywhere. In fact, we need a masterpiece that kills the heart, another rule under a sanctimonious social rule, a sincere heart under a high-sounding mask, and a child who cries loudly in the emperor's new clothes. He is so hungry.
