Can I put copper sulfate in the fish pond?
Copper sulfate can be put in fish ponds.

Copper sulfate can be used to prevent and treat fish diseases. It can combine with protein to form protein salt precipitate, so it has a strong ability to kill pathogens. It has obvious prevention and treatment effect on fish diseases caused by cryptosporidium, Diptera, rotifer, Diptera, Dactylogyrus, Diptera, Chinese sticky carp and other parasites. At the same time, it can kill mud moss, hydra, lake indigo and conidia. Therefore, copper sulfate is an essential medicine for all farms. But if it can't be used correctly, it will get bad results and even cause fish poisoning and death.

Matters needing attention

1. Be sure to be accurate when measuring the pool water volume and calculating. Because the safety range of copper sulfate is small, in general, the concentration should be controlled at 0.7 ppm (that is, the amount of water per cubic meter is about 0.7 g). When the concentration is lower than 0.5 ppm, the insecticidal effect is poor, and when the concentration is higher than 1ppm, the fish may be poisoned and die.

2. Prevent failure. Copper sulfate is not easy to dissolve in water, and people often use hot water to dissolve it, but the temperature is not easy to be higher than 60℃, otherwise it will decompose and fail.

3. According to the water quality, increase or decrease the dosage. Because organic matter dissolved in wat, especially protein and polyhydroxy compounds, can form complexes with copper sulfate, thus reduce that toxicity of copper sulfate. Therefore, if the water quality is fat and the water temperature is low, the dosage can be increased appropriately, otherwise the dosage can be reduced. At the same time, don't apply pesticides when the fish float in the morning and when the water temperature is high in the morning. It is best to use it at 4 ~6 pm.

4. Don't use copper sulfate immediately in the pond where soybean milk has just been sprinkled, because the protein of soybean milk can combine with copper sulfate, which makes copper sulfate ineffective.

5. In fish ponds where thiram arsenic has been used, copper sulfate can only be used after the medicinal properties of thiram arsenic disappear, because copper ions will precipitate arsenic when they meet thiram arsenic, and arsenic is a highly toxic substance, which will lead to fish poisoning and death.

6. Killing the pond with copper sulfate is to prevent the pond from decomposing and consuming a lot of oxygen after death, so that the water in the pond is deprived of oxygen. Therefore, after taking the medicine, we should strengthen observation. If oxygen deficiency is found, fresh water should be added immediately or oxygen should be increased through aerator.

7. Copper sulfate treatment is prohibited for melon diseases, because copper sulfate can not kill melon worms, but will stimulate large-scale reproduction of melon worms and aggravate the disease.

8. Ponds with golden algae cannot be treated with copper sulfate because the water in the pond is acidic. After taking the medicine, it will quickly increase the acidity of pond water, making the fish unbearable and die.

9. Copper sulfate is often combined with ferrous sulfate, which is an auxiliary drug and has astringent effect. It is mainly used to remove obstacles for copper sulfate to kill parasites, especially when China herring is parasitic. If copper sulfate is used alone, it will not kill you, and it will only be effective if it is used in combination with ferrous sulfate.
