Therefore, the workers decided to continue polishing and slimming granite. After two grinding, the weight of granite is reduced from 300 tons to 130 tons. However, the 130-ton monument is still a giant, and it cannot be easily transported away by relying on the transportation capacity of Qingdao at that time. The distance from Foshan to the railway station is about 15km. In order to reduce the damage to granite, workers have done a lot of protective measures for granite. However, even if everyone protects this behemoth so much, the granite is more or less worn during the 34-day transportation of15km.
The workers managed to transport the granite to the railway station, but were told that the maximum load-bearing capacity of the flatbed car in Qingdao Railway Station was only 60 tons, and the granite of 130 tons was more than twice as overweight, so it was impossible to make do with it. Helpless, this can only turn to the Soviet Union for help. However, the Soviet Union failed to completely solve this help, because the maximum load of the flatbed car brought from the Soviet Union was only 90 tons, which was already the largest flatbed car at that time. The workers had to use this car to transport it, and it took them time to grind the granite to 94 tons for the third time.
However, the accident happened again. Although the granite was successfully moved to the flatbed car, during the transportation, the car was thrown far away because the truck driver was nervous for a while. Seeing this situation, the hearts of the workers are in their throats. After stopping, they immediately got off the bus to check the condition of granite. Fortunately, granite is safe, but it also shows the hardness of granite from the side. Finally, the granite arrived in Beijing, just like going through the 81 ST difficulty. After carving and polishing by craftsmen day and night, the granite from Qingdao has taken on a brand-new look, faintly emitting an amazing momentum. Finally, this granite has changed from 300 tons to 60 tons now.
Sometimes, we can't help thinking, if this monument to the people's heroes really weighs 300 tons, what would it look like? However, according to the strength of the newly established New China at that time, it is impossible to realize the long-distance transfer of 300 tons of heavy objects, and it is also helpless to make the Monument to the People's Heroes so thin.
