How to treat swine epidemic diarrhea?
Swine epidemic diarrhea is an infectious disease caused by coronavirus, mainly gastrointestinal diseases. The incidence of sows is 15% ~ 90%, and the incidence of suckling piglets, shelf pigs or fattening pigs can reach 100%. The incubation period of the disease is 24 ~ 36 hours for newborn piglets and 2 days for fattening pigs.

The clinical manifestations are very similar to those of transmissible gastroenteritis in pigs. Big pigs get sick, and the younger they are, the more serious their illness is. Feces are thin, watery, yellow-green or gray, with slightly higher or normal body temperature and poor spirit and appetite. The incidence of suckling piglets is vomiting, watery diarrhea and redness of the skin around the anus. Piglets within 1 week often die of severe dehydration 3 ~ 4 days after watery diarrhea. The course of weaned piglets and finishing pigs is about 1 week. Adult pigs generally have no obvious symptoms, sometimes only vomiting and anorexia.

The main pathological changes are intestinal villi atrophy, intestinal wall thinning and translucent, and intestinal contents watery.

[Preventive and Control Measures]

(1) At present, attenuated cell vaccine can be used for prevention, and sows can take oral vaccine 5 and 2 weeks before delivery. Maternal antibody can protect piglets from getting sick within 4 ~ 5 weeks.

(2) It is ineffective to treat sick pigs with antibiotics, but strengthening feeding management, keeping the pigsty warm, clean and dry, and providing enough drinking water can alleviate the illness and reduce the mortality.
