How long does moxibustion usually take?
Moxibustion on an acupoint for 5 to 30 minutes is a relatively routine situation. Generally, it takes 30 minutes to 2 hours to do moxibustion once.

The time of moxibustion at an acupoint is flexible, just like the amount of salt put by a chef. In his hands, this is an experience, with some subtle and abstract feelings. I tried to share the experience of Shenjiutang in words.

1. Look at moxibustion! As a guide, this is the most important one!

If a point produces obvious moxibustion feeling, then the time of moxibustion at this point will be extended, or even mainly based on this!

To put it simply, moxibustion sensation refers to some special phenomena in the process of moxibustion, such as ant crawling, heat conduction, diffusion, itching, pain (pain caused by non-moxibustion fire too close to baking), and even some spots and red lines on the skin surface ... There are many forms of moxibustion sensation transmission, and the most important thing is the conduction and diffusion of heat.

Give two common examples:

Moxibustion at Yaoyangguan often has a sense of heat penetration, and the heat gradually penetrates into the lower abdomen from the lower back, or wraps around the lower abdomen like a belt.

When people with stomachache are moxibustion at Zhongwan or Zusanli, the heat may be linearly transmitted to the stomach along the moxibustion place, and the whole stomach will be warm.

When these strange feelings appear, please increase the time of this acupoint and don't change it. It is best to let the whole moxibustion process happen, grow, weaken and disappear.

Therefore, I never look at my watch in moxibustion and always follow my feelings.

Of course, these special moxibustion feelings do not always appear. They are affected by the ability to select points, the time of opening points and diseases ... they can also have good effects without moxibustion. We don't have to pursue it deliberately and let it go, but if we meet it, we must take good care of it.

2. The main point and the secondary point have different times.

Every moxibustion has main targets and auxiliary points, and the time of main points is often allocated too much. For example, for the sprain of the front waist, after the diagnosis, it was decided to adopt yin combination, mainly focusing on yin jiao, with single point moxibustion 1 hour and bilateral assistance, 10 minute.

3. The core time of waist and abdomen is long, and the peripheral time of limbs is short.

This is also a routine situation. Acupoints on the waist, abdomen and trunk often take a long time, while acupoints on limbs and limbs take a relatively short time. (But when the acupoints on the limbs are the main acupoints or the moxibustion feeling is good, this is an exception, but it is just the usual situation. )

4. Affected by the total time of moxibustion.

The total time of moxibustion affects the time of each acupoint. For example, the moxibustion time is only one hour, and four acupoints are arranged by yourself. On average, each acupoint takes only 15 minutes. If the total time is two hours, the average time of each acupoint is 30 minutes.

5. Physical state

In case of emergency or serious illness, moxibustion at an acupoint will last longer, but it can be shorter in the case of daily health care. Take Shenjiu Hall Sina blog "Tachycardia Three Moxibustion First Aid Documentary" as an example, patients do one thing besides eating all day, moxibustion. That point has been moxibustion for several hours (this is a special case of long-term moxibustion)

6. Different views on skin blush.

It is often seen in books and online that moxibustion at an acupoint is based on redness of the skin. I think this may be a standard to find the simplest method for people who don't know moxibustion at all. Everyone has different skin types. Some people's skin is particularly heat-resistant and turns red when baked. Some people's skin is particularly heat-resistant, and it doesn't turn red when baked. Fundamentally speaking, moxibustion on epidermis is a form, whose purpose is to penetrate and stimulate acupoints and treat the body. Therefore, it is unscientific to bake the red skin completely.
