I. Initiation procedure
In addition to the functions described in detail below, Partition Magic also provides "redistribution of free space" for recovering free space of hard disk, "analysis and recommendation" for hard disk partition operation, "recovery of wasted space" for recovering wasted hard disk space, redefining bad sector Reset in hard disk, redefining hard disk cluster, formatting hard disk partition and detecting hard disk partition error. Finally, we want to explain that zoning magic is very safe to use. You only need to clearly remember which partition data can't be deleted, and create an emergency disk by using the "Create Rescue Disk" function provided by the program before using this tool, so you can do it with confidence and boldness.

Second, create a hard disk partition.
1? When the program starts, the partition magic will automatically scan the hard disk system (as shown in figure 1) and find two hard disks (disk 1 and disk 2). Disk 1 already has two partitions with drive letters "c:" and "e:". Disk 2 has no partition and the drive letter is "d:". Now we will create a new partition "f:" on disk 2.
Click the first icon "Create a new partition" in the wizard function list area at the bottom of the interface, and the program will give a description interface, prompting the user to partition the hard disk. Note that this operation will cause the arrangement of hard disk letters in the system to change.
2? Click Next to switch to the next interface, and select the hard disk to create partition in the system hard disk list box. If there is only one hard disk, you don't have to choose.
3? Click Next to switch to the next interface, where you can select the partition format to create the hard disk. The program uses FAT 16 by default. You can also choose FAT 32 (used by WIN 98 system) and NTFS (used by Windows NT system).
4? Switch to the next interface where you can enter the newly created partition capacity. The program gives the maximum and minimum capacity for creating partitions, and you can't exceed this range.
5? Switch to the next interface and set the volume label of the new partition in the "Label for newpartition" text box.
6? Switch to the next interface, the program gives all the above setting information, and gives the partition arrangement of the divided hard disk in a graphical way. If there is no problem, click Finish to confirm and return to the main interface of the program. As can be seen from the main interface, the program gives a new partition arrangement and partition letter in a graphical way. There is an "Apply" button in the lower right corner of the program interface. Click this button, and the program will give you a confirmation dialog box "Do you want to apply the changes now?" Click the "Yes" button to confirm, and the program will start to create partition operation, and a dialog box of the operation process will be given.
7? After the hard disk partition is completed, click OK in the prompt box to return to the main interface of the program. Click the "Exit" button in the interface, and the program will give a "Warning" dialog box, prompting the user to restart the system before the above partition takes effect. Click "OK" button to confirm, the system will restart and the partition creation will be completed.
Beibei Tip: There is an "Advanced" button in the interface displayed in the second step. Click this button to display the partition setting interface, which provides some settings related to hard disk partition, among which the important options are:
(a) "Allow the wizard to move partitions": When the hard disk is partitioned, it is allowed to move the hard disk partition table.
(b) "Allow the wizard to resize the partition": allows you to redefine the partition size when partitioning the hard disk.
? "Sharp-tongued? Size ":The program suggests keeping the minimum value of the partition.
Third, adjust the partition size.
1? Select the partition to be resized in the program interface, and then click the resize/move partition button in the interface button bar, or click the icon of the partition to be shrunk with the right mouse button and select the resize/move command from the context menu, and the program will give the setting interface as shown in Figure 3.
2? Select the "New Size" text box in the interface to set the new capacity of the partition. At this time, the remaining space will be converted into free space that can only be recognized by partition Magic, and the program defaults to the free space behind the current partition.
3? Click OK to return to the main interface of the program. At this point, a "free space" item will be added to the hard disk partition list box in the interface. Select the partition to be expanded, and then click the "Resize/Move Partition" button in the button bar, and the program will give the interface as shown in Figure 3. Just set a new hard disk partition capacity in the "New Size" item.
4? Click the "Apply" button in the main interface of the program, and the program begins to change the partition.
Fourth, merge hard disk partitions.
1? When merging partitions, you can only keep the data in one hard disk partition intact because it involves deleting partitions. If you need all the data in two partitions, you can back up the data in one of them. We call this partition a secondary partition. Click this backup partition with the right mouse button, and select the "Delete" command from the context menu, and the program will give a dialog box for deleting the partition.
2? Enter the volume label of the secondary partition. If the volume label is not set for the deleted partition, you need to enter "No Name".
3? Click "OK" to confirm, return to the main interface of the program, and delete the sub-partition. At this point, you can see that the space in this partition has become free space.
4? Select the main partition to be merged, and then follow the operation method of expanding the hard disk partition.
Five, conversion partition format
1? Right-click the hard disk partition icon that needs to convert the partition format, and select the corresponding conversion command in the "Conversion" submenu of the context menu, such as "Convert FAT32 to FAT".
2? The program pops up a dialog box to inform the user that the partition format conversion operation will be performed. Click OK in the interface to confirm, and the conversion is over.
3? Go back to the main interface of the program and follow the fourth step of the third part.

Six, copy the hard disk partition
1? First, use the "move/resize partition" function provided by the program to change the partition size and create a free space with sufficient capacity in the hard disk.
2? Right-click the hard disk partition to be copied, and select Copy from the context menu to open the setting interface.
3? Click OK in the interface to confirm and return to the main interface of the program. Just follow the fourth step of the third part.
Seven, install multiple operating systems
1? Click the "Prepare New Operating System" icon in the program interface to activate this function. The program gives a description interface, click the "Next" button to continue.
2? The program pops up the "Select Operating System" interface, and you can select the operating system to install.
3? Switch to the next interface and select the hard disk partition table type suitable for this operating system.
4? Switch to the next interface, in which the program gives the recommended partition capacity suitable for the selected operating system. You can use it or define new capacity yourself.
5? Switch to the next interface to set a new volume label for the main partition of the hard disk.
Then switch to the "Install Your New Operating System" interface and click the "Next" button in the interface. The program will create a master boot partition in the current hard disk, but this partition has implicit properties at this time.
6? Right-click the currently active primary boot partition and choose the Hide Partition command from the Advanced submenu of the context menu to hide it. Then right-click the created master boot partition with implicit attributes, and select Unhide Partition from the submenu of Advanced item in the context menu to activate it.
7? Insert the startup disk into the floppy disk drive, and then click the Apply command to complete the installation. Then exit the program and restart the system. Now you can install the new operating system.
