Do you know the history of Eight Yoga? Which teacher spread it? What is Tom's point? What can I get from practicing Tom? Perhaps, you have some impressions of the answers to these questions, so let's take a look at how the head of A Tang explained it today. The content of the article comes from the interview video of the person in charge of 20 15, but the wisdom contained in it can be described as constant, long and far.
The following article is from Ashtanga Guangzhou? , Guangzhou Astaga
This is an interview with Sharath ji, the head of Astanga, at the Stockholm seminar on 20/0/5.
Sharratt Ji introduced himself.
Namaste, I'm Sharath Jois, a yogi from Mysore, South India. I have been practicing yoga for 25 to 30 years. I practice under the guidance of my grandfather K. Pattabhi Jois, who is my teacher and mentor. I studied with him for many years.
Yoga has been growing with me. Everyone in my family is a yoga teacher. My mother and my grandfather are both teaching yoga. In the process of growing up, I explored yoga through observation and learning. Now I am mainly in Indian classes. We have a yoga classroom called K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga College. We have students from more than 60 countries coming here to study with me.

How did yoga begin?
Eight branches yoga was promoted by my grandfather K. Pattabhi Jois. His teacher is Kristnamacharya. He is also a Sanskrit scholar. He studied yoga under the yoga master Rama Mohana Brahmachari. He lives in the Himalayas, where he learned a kind of yoga called vinyasa krama Yoga, and then he passed on his knowledge to my grandfather K. Pattabhi Jois, and then my grandfather passed it on to me and others, so this set of yoga is not new. People have been practicing for millions of years.
As mentioned in Bhagavad Gita: Imam Vivasvat Yogam Proktavan Aham Avyayam Vivas van Manave Prahamanu ikvakave' Bravit (I taught the immortal yoga science to the sun god vivasān, vivasān to the human ancestor manu, and Manu to Ik? Vāku, son of Manu) Evamparam para-Praptamim Rajar Sayo Viduh (this supreme science was thus inherited by disciples) So yoga is not new, and people have been practicing it for millions of years. ? (Note: Yoga here is not just asana, but the whole yoga system. )
When the world began, yoga also began. It has a very long history and continues to spread. There are still many students practicing yoga, and this knowledge has been passed down. As the ancient sage Vamana (considered to be the author of yoga Korunta) said: Vina vinyasa Yogena Asana Dinna Karayet-don't pose without vinya sa, so Vinyasa is very important. It is very important to associate breathing with movement in asana.
Because it can make our body healthy and purify our respiratory system, when we do this, we are purifying our nervous system, and we generate an inner energy, which will purify our body and nervous system and make every organ of our body purify and nourish, which is why vinyasa is very important.
This form of yoga includes many breathing techniques, postures and even jumping in series. What we are doing is an ancient practice.
Why do you think yoga has developed in recent years?
Yoga is very important because everyone is under great pressure and everyone wants inner peace. Yoga is the only exercise that can calm you down and bring you physical and mental health. I think people and my students began to realize this, so they began to practice yoga, so yoga is very popular all over the world.
Astana has existed for many years. My grandfather first brought Astonga to western countries in 1974. He went to America in 1974, where he planted the first astaga seed outside India. Now seeds have grown all over the world, and everyone is practicing and benefiting a lot from them. That's why Eight Yoga is becoming more and more popular.
What is the most important part of eight yoga?
If I meet someone who hasn't practiced Ashtanga yoga, the first thing I will say to him or her is: You have to come first. They must first see how this class is taught and how the teacher leads them. Just looking at the people in the class, you will feel a different energy, which is very important.
We can't force anyone to do yoga. They must want to practice yoga in their hearts. First of all, they need to know why they practice yoga and what benefits it has. Once you start practicing yoga, go to the teacher to practice yoga, and then you will realize the benefits of yoga and its influence on the soul. Therefore, it is very important to go to the classroom to listen before deciding to practice.
There are many new schools and forms of yoga, which have nothing to do with traditional practice. They are more like a physical exercise, a fitness activity and an aerobic exercise. But these exercises will not produce the same effect as traditional exercises. If you practice yoga like this, it's just an external exercise.
For beginners who have just started practicing yoga, it is also very important to observe the classroom and decide who will teach me this traditional yoga practice.
What are the benefits of yoga?
We can get health through yoga, and we can get inner peace through yoga, especially in modern society. I have said many times that many people are under great pressure and are in a hurry. Everyone seems to be running away from something and needs to calm down or go crazy, so it is very important to have a place to practice yoga. Only in this way can we get health, peace and longevity, and we can live longer. All these benefits can be obtained through yoga. Yoga is not a recent thing. People started practicing millions of years ago. All saints and enlightened people have practiced yoga, such as Rishi and Muny. They are aware of these benefits, so they learn how to achieve peace and longevity. Life is very important and precious, so it is very important for you to learn how to live well.
If you want to live a happy life, you must practice yoga. Yoga will teach you many things. Yoga will teach you how to connect with the world, how to be yourself, how to live happily in this world and how to live peacefully in this world. These are all part of yoga, which can be interpreted in different ways.
Yoga sutra says: Yoga? -citta-vr? Ti-Nileda? Yoga is to calm the mind and calm the restless mind. The brain is like a running monkey. It wants to do many things. The fluctuation of the mind is infinite. It always jumps around. ?
Then how can we calm down and live a good life?
You need to calm your mind and make our mind more focused, which means we should be aware of our existence. This is called Antarātman, which means to be aware of our inner self. We should learn how to know our hearts. Our observation, thoughts and attention are divergent. We want to do what others do. We want this and that, and our focus is external. Only through yoga can we realize our inner self. Once we pay attention to ourselves, we can do it.
