Isabel (Nicole Kidman), who lives in San Fernando Valley, California, is an innocent and kind witch. Her plan for her life is neither to become a wizard star like Harry Potter nor a heroine to save all mankind. She just wants to live a normal life. Jack (will ferrell), who lives on the other side of the city, is a famous movie star. He urgently needs to promote his career through a highly respected movie. As it happens, the production company is going to remake the classic series Fairy and Witch in the 1960s. Jack got a lift, and now he just needs to find a suitable heroine to play Samantha, the witch's wife in the play.

After interviewing many actresses, Jack met Isabel by chance. Her little nose movements made Jack immediately recognize that she was the heroine she was looking for.
