Oedipus (Oedipus or? Dipus (sometimes spelled Oidipous) is the king of Thebes in Greek mythology, the son of King Laius and Queen Iocasta. Without knowing it, Dipper killed his father and married his mother.
When Leos was young, he robbed Sipos, the son of King Pelops, and was cursed. When his son Oedipus was born, the Oracle said that he would be killed by his son. In order to escape his own fate, Raios stabbed the newborn's ankle (oily means "swollen foot" in Greek) and left him in the wild to die. However, the shepherds who were ordered to carry out it felt sorry for them and secretly handed the baby over to the king of Corinth, Polibas, and they raised him as their own son.
When Oedipus grew up, because the Oracle in Delphi temple said that he would kill his father and marry his mother, Oedipus, who didn't know that the king and queen of Corinth were not his biological parents, left Corinth and vowed never to come back to avoid the Oracle coming true. While wandering around Thebes, Oedipus clashed with a group of strangers at a fork in the road and killed others by mistake, including his own father. At that time, Thebes was trapped by Sphinx, because he would catch everyone who passed by, and if the other party couldn't solve his puzzle, he would tear each other up and swallow them. In order to get out of trouble, Thebes announced that whoever could solve the puzzle and save the polis from the mouth of the Sphinx would get the throne and marry the king's widow Casta. Later, Oedipus solved the mystery of the Sphinx and rescued Thebes. He also succeeded to the throne, and unwittingly married his mother and gave birth to two daughters: antigone and Ismaini; Two sons: Eteoclus and Polynesia.
Later, disaster and plague happened in the country ruled by Oedipus, so the king had to ask God for instructions and want to know why the disaster came. Finally, under the inspiration of the Prophet Tiresias, Oedipus knew that he was the son of Laos, and finally finished the unfortunate fate of killing his father and marrying his mother. The shocked Casta hanged himself in shame, while the equally angry Oedipus stabbed himself in the eye.
