I. Definition of dry weight
Dry weight, also called "target weight", is different from standard weight. Dry weight refers to the weight of kidney friends who feel good about themselves during and after hemodialysis, have no hypotension, cramps, nausea and vomiting, have good blood pressure control and have no edema and ascites. The weight at this time is called dry weight.
Second, the necessity of setting dry weight
Dry weight is an important reference for dialysis dehydration of kidney friends. Kidney friends can better control the water intake according to the dry weight and reduce the risk that kidney friends may cause because of drinking too much water. Doctors set the ultrafiltration volume of dialysis according to the dry weight to achieve more efficient dialysis and avoid ultrafiltration or insufficient dehydration.
1, ultrafiltration effect
Excessive ultrafiltration can easily lead to hypotension, nausea, vomiting, cramps and dialysis fatigue in kidney friends.
2. Insufficient dehydration.
Insufficient dehydration leads to water retention in the body, which in turn leads to hypertension, right ventricular hypertrophy and heart failure.
Third, the self-assessment of dry weight
1, feel comfortable
Kidney friends feel comfortable and have no problems such as edema of face, eyelids and lower limbs.
Step 2 breathe normally
There is no difficulty breathing in normal activities, and there is no problem of chest tightness and lying flat at night.
3. Blood pressure is stable
After hemodialysis, the blood pressure measurement results were stable, and there were no symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and dialysis imbalance.
4. Auxiliary inspection
Chest X-ray examination and echocardiography showed no abnormality.
Matters needing attention
The dry weight is not fixed, and may change with the physical condition of kidney friends. In addition, the dry weight is also affected by factors such as the diet of kidney friends, the addition and subtraction of clothes, and the change of solar terms. It is necessary for kidney friends to reassess the dry weight in time to ensure the accuracy of dry weight.
Fourth, how to control the dry weight
1, daily diet
Strictly control salt and water. In the case of dialysis every other day, the weight gain should not exceed 3% of the dry weight; In the case of dialysis every two days, the weight gain should not exceed 5% of the dry weight. If you are an elderly dialysis friend with light weight and poor heart function, then the weight change should be controlled within a small range.
2, dialysis treatment
Maintain appropriate dialysis frequency to ensure the water clearance rate.
Step 3 test yourself at home
Keep weighing scale at home, strengthen monitoring, and pay attention to eliminate the influence of diet and clothes when weighing. According to the measurement results, adjust the diet in time.
