Ningbo University, referred to as "Ningda", is located in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It is a university jointly established by China people, Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and Ningbo Municipal People's Government, State Oceanic Administration and Ningbo Municipal People's Government. It is a national "double first-class" construction, and Zhejiang Province focuses on the construction of colleges and universities.
The school has been selected into the national "11/plan", the outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, the outstanding doctoral education and training plan, the innovative experimental area of the national college students' self-employment teaching model, the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan, a number of national demonstration universities to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the scholarship receiving institutions of China government for overseas students, and the national college practice education and innovation base.
Ningbo University was founded on 1986 with a donation from Bao Yugang, and Deng Xiaoping wrote the name of the university. At the beginning of the school, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, China University of Science and Technology, Peking University and the former Hangzhou University built it. 1996, the former Ningbo University, Ningbo Normal University and Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Fisheries College merged to form a new Ningbo University.
