Is your computer just slow to boot or slow to run?
The following method win7 is applicable.
Check that 4k is aligned, and then set the number of processor cores required to start the system. Because win7 system starts a processor core by default, we can increase its number. Click the Start menu to run. If not, you can also use win+r keyboard combination to open it. . Enter msconfig in the Run box and click OK to open it. Many of our startup settings start here. Click the Start tab on the system configuration page, and click here with the mouse to switch to this interface.
Then there is an advanced option button under this tab, where we can set the number of cores of the processor. Click this button.
By default, the check box before the processor number is not selected. We use the mouse to select it, as shown in the figure, and then click the menu below. The number of cores your processor has will be displayed. For example, if my processor is dual-core, it will display 2, and then we will select 2 and click OK to exit.
Now start setting the startup items. Too many startup items are the chief culprit leading to the slow startup of the system, so the number of startup items must be reduced. My suggestion is to cancel the automatic startup except the antivirus software. You can wait until the system starts before opening some commonly used software. At least we don't have to suffer from slow startup. As shown in the figure, all startup items will be selected in front, and you can see which one you want to start automatically.
Deselect all startup items except antivirus software, and then click OK to exit. At this point, the processor and startup items are set up, which is not enough. Go ahead.
In the system property page, click Advanced System Settings in the left navigation bar.
On the system property page, in the following performance item, click this setting button to set the visual effect of the system, because turning on the system special effects will not only affect the speed, occupy resources, but also have a certain impact on the startup, so for the sake of speed, we completely abandon the flashy things.
Replacing the best appearance with the best performance will make the system no longer beautiful. If you like the beautiful system interface, this step can be skipped, and the impact will not be great.
Now let's go back to the advanced tab and set the options for selecting the operating system startup menu. With this setting, we can win at least two seconds of startup time. Click the settings below.
When the system starts, there will be a menu to choose to start the operating system. This process takes three seconds by default, so we need to change it to 0 seconds or 1 second, as shown in the figure. After making changes, click OK to exit.
Now let's set to delete the sound of the boot. The speed of this operation is limited, but it is not without improvement. Might as well get rid of it. Right-click the sound icon in the system tray, and then click Sound Options.
At this point, the settings from the operating system itself are basically the same, and there is also a system service item. It will be somewhat complicated to set directly from the system, which will make people who are not familiar with the system service at a loss. Therefore, the best way is to achieve it with the help of relevant optimization software, such as various prestige, various masters and so on. There are many kinds of such software, and the operation is different, so I won't go into details here. Through these softwares, you should focus on reducing some useless system services, removing some garbage and uninstalling some useless software plug-ins.

The following method xp is applicable.
First, the setting and optimization of accessories
BIOS optimization settings of 1. motherboard
Turn off redundant IDE channels, USB devices and other hardware, and use "None" to shield. Use IDE Hard Disk Auto-Detection to automatically detect hard disks. No memory detection, open all caches, enter "Advanced CMOS Settings" and set "Quick Start" to "Enable". Memory larger than 1MB may not be detected. "IDE 0 Master/Slave Pio/DMA Mode, IDE 1 Master/Slave Pio/DMA Mode" hard disk sequence (mode) is all set to "Automatic". Enter the "Advanced BIOS Features" option. Move the cursor to the "First Boot Device" option and select "HDD-0" to boot directly from the hard disk. It will take a few seconds to start. Move the cursor to Quick POST and set it to Enabled. For Start Floppy Search, set it to Disabled. For memory chips with good memory quality, it is recommended to set it to "2" in the "SDRAM CAS Latency" option. Tip: For the setting of the same effect, it is different.
2. Network card settings
When entering the operating system, the system will search the IP address of the network card. If the IP address of the network card is set to automatically obtain, the system will search the DHCP server in the network to obtain the IP address, which invisibly prolongs the startup time. If it is not necessary, it is best to specify the IP address of the network card.
3. Open the DMA transfer mode of the hard disk.
Right-click "My Computer → Properties → Hardware → Device Manager →IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller → Find the IDE channel where the hard disk is located → Properties → Advanced Settings" on the desktop to open the DMA transfer mode of the hard disk and speed up data reading and writing (Figure 3). The setting of WIN98 is basically the same as that of WinME, just check the DMA option.
Reduced BIOS ROM
There are some unnecessary files in the motherboard BIOS ROM, which can be deleted by using BIOS editing tools such as CBROM and AwardFlash. Note: this is a dangerous operation, and novices had better not move.
Second, Windows system optimization
1. Delete redundant self-startup programs.
This is an effective method. Click Start → Run, enter msconfig in the dialog box that appears, and then click OK to bring up the system configuration utility (Win98 and WinXP systems only, Win2000 users need to copy MSCONFIG.EXE to the system folder or use the registry editing method described later). Click the Start tab. For programs that don't need to start automatically, just remove the front "√". Generally, you only need to leave ctfmon (input method icon), system tray (volume icon) and antivirus program. My computer only keeps "ctfmon" (Figure 4), which can shorten the startup time by about 10 second.
Modify IDE channel control (WinXP)
Right-click my computer → Properties → Hardware → Device Manager → expand the IDE ATA/ATAP controller, double-click the option of the auxiliary IDE channel, select the tab of advanced settings in the pop-up dialog box, and change the original "automatic detection" in device 0 and device 1 to "none".
Get rid of the gorgeous and bloated appearance
Remove wallpaper and screen saver, and delete redundant desktop icons. If it is WinXP, you can also right-click my computer, select Properties → Advanced, click Settings in the performance item, and select Adjust to Best Performance (End).
