What are the characteristics of autotrophs?
Plants and microorganisms containing chlorophyll and purple pigment can directly absorb these inorganic compounds from the outside through roots, leaves or cell membranes, and use the energy of sunlight to synthesize organic substances needed for their own growth and other life activities, such as protein, lipids and carbohydrates (sugars). Organisms with this way of nutrition are called autotrophs or inorganic vegetative organisms.
