What is meditation?
Question 1: What do you think of meditation and meditation? How to "sit" meditation is to try not to think about anything, but meditation is the best posture and can help progress. So China people call it meditation, not meditation. Meditation is just some modern western expressions.

Meditation and chanting Buddha are two ways of practice, which can overlap or choose only one.

No matter when and where you live, sit or lie down, you can recite Buddha. There is no Amitabha in the south, no Amitabha in the south and no Amitabha in the south. Just read it sentence by sentence. You can refer to "the general trend to Buddha chanting".

Meditation is mainly meditation, that is, sitting there trying to do nothing. But people at first don't think about anything. What shall we do? All sages advocate replacing thoughts with one thought. Most of them read Buddha to get rid of other thoughts. There is no Amitabha in the south, no Amitabha in the south, and no Amitabha in the south, sentence after sentence, but this is more in the form of mind. If you can't concentrate on chanting Buddha, you'd better start with basic exercises. You can consider choosing a longer Buddha mantra to recite. If you can't concentrate on chanting Buddha's mantra, you can consider choosing longer scriptures to recite, such as Tibetan scriptures, and usually do more good deeds: release and give alms. This is the so-called practice. Meditation is to cultivate the mind, and it is necessary to achieve the purpose of cultivating the mind through practice.

Question 2: What's the difference between meditation and meditation? Meditation is a method of keeping fit in ancient China. Sit cross-legged with your eyes closed, adjust your breathing, put your hands in a certain position and think nothing. Meditation is also called "sitting on a plate" and "sitting * * *". A basic practice method in Taoism. In Buddhism, it is called "meditation" or "meditation", which is a compulsory course of Zen. Sit in natural disk, double disk and single disk. Meditation can not only improve health and prolong life, but also increase wisdom.

Meditation is a form of changing consciousness, which enhances self-awareness and good state by obtaining a deep state of peace. During meditation, people may focus on their breathing and adjust their breathing, adopt certain body postures (yoga postures), minimize external * * *, produce specific psychological appearances, or think nothing.

Question 3: What is meditation? What is meditation? What is meditation? Please answer meditation: don't move;

Meditation: thinking practice;

Meditation: think on the bright side.

Question 4: Is there a difference between meditation and meditation? Meditation can cultivate a person's accomplishment. Nowadays, urbanites are stressed and nervous, so doing meditation occasionally can adjust their body and mind. This is a very good way to keep in good health. You can choose a comfortable sitting position, half lotus or full lotus. Don't think about anything, empty everything. Feel the dialogue between body and mind quietly.

Question 5: Is meditation what Buddhists call meditation? When Buddhism and Taoism practiced Qigong meditation in the early days, the first thing was to calm down and ensure that they would not be distracted or sleepy. Buddhists focus on meditation or chanting, while Taoists practice mind by practicing Dantian. What you mean by meditation or meditation should be Buddhist practice after practicing Qigong. Taoism has a similar method, but nourishing qi and proving heaven are still the mainstream.

Meditation and meditation practice are called Lingtai by Buddhists and Zifu by Taoists, which is where one's spiritual wisdom lies. The cultivation effect is good, but it is also dangerous. It is not impossible to cultivate one's mind and cultivate one's nature. If you don't exert yourself, problems will easily occur. It is not impossible for the light person to go crazy and the heavy person to faint.

If you believe in Buddhism, I will send you a sentence: "Mo Yan's imagination is deep, but he should lament that his self-confidence is shallow", which is the words of a Zen master who has been living in Buddhism.

If you are a monk, you'd better practice your abdomen honestly first. Reading the Divine Comedy of the Valley should help you.

Question 6: What do you think of meditation? In Buddhism, meditation is called meditation. There are two kinds of meditation, one is "stopping the view" and the other is "returning to the light and reflecting the mind directly". Far higher than "heretics", "thinking about heaven" is not the same as the "four Zen and eight decisions" in the world.

What is "meditation"? The "inner" heart does not move, which is called "sitting"; "Exterior" is called "Zen" without taking six dust phases; It is an absolute "mental method", and the Tao is realized by the heart, not by sitting.

The purpose of meditation in Buddhism is to achieve meditation kungfu.

What is "meditation"? The "meditation kungfu" that can achieve "staying inside and not taking outside" in "daily walking, living, sitting and lying down" is called "meditation" without taking pictures from outside. If the heart is not tempted, it is called "Ding".

What do you mean, "shine directly into your heart"? That is, the method of "Zen" is to "point directly at people's hearts, make people shine again, see nature directly, and realize Dharma."

What is "no more watching"? That is, Tiantai Sect's method of "learning and knowing" and "three stops and three views on empty holidays". Don't watch "Double Luck" any more, that is, the so-called "even a wise man has a long thought, he will gain something." Just don't think about it, and it will be clear. Stop, stop thinking; View, micro-closely observe the various thinking laws of reality. Stopping observation is a way to practice perseverance. "Meditation" means meditation.

The "ultimate goal" of learning "stop the view" is also "to realize nature and dharma".

Being able to observe wisdom is a "self-centered function"; What you observe is also "the role of self-awareness"

There are three kinds of "can view wisdom": empty view of wisdom, false view of wisdom and medium view of reality. There are also three kinds of "view realms": empty view realm, false view realm and middle way realm.

Empty view: all laws are born of karma, have no self-nature, and seem to exist. When the body is "empty".

Myth: Although all laws have no self-nature, they are not without fantastic illusions. If there is anything, it is "false".

The truth view of the middle way: all laws are born by reason, without self-nature, but without illusion; When the body is "empty, false, and the truth of the middle way", it seems that there is nothing and nothing.

What is the "truth of the middle way"? "the reality of all laws" is also. In other words, we are "true colors, self-nature, sincerity, truth, dharma body, dharma world, Buddha nature, Tathagata hiding, awareness and so on".

Being able to understand the truth of the middle way is to reach the realm of Zen, which is the purpose of practicing meditation in Buddhism.

Amitabha!

Question 7: Do you have to meditate or choose your own comfortable way? Do you feel sleepy when you meditate? Meditation is trying to think nothing, any posture will do, but meditation is the best posture, which can help you make progress.

This is the so-called practice. Meditation is to cultivate the mind, and it is necessary to achieve the purpose of cultivating the mind through practice.

Question 8: What does meditation mean to purify the body and mind? In other words, if we meditate, our body and mind will calm down, and then we will purify our hearts. But I'm not sure if I have meditation, and some are delusional.

Question 9: What is Vipassana, and what is the relationship among meditation, mindfulness and meditation? Vipassana is a free translation of Buddhism. Vipassana and Samantha are two core meditation methods in primitive Buddhism. Zen is a compulsory course for liberation.

To practice Zen, you can walk, stand, sit and lie down. Meditation is one of the most commonly used postures. But meditation is not unique to Buddhism. Almost all religious factions have their own meditation.

The concept of meditation is too broad to be discussed without defining its scope.

Mindfulness is the most difficult concept to explain. Samosati first appeared in the middle of Buddhism, meaning the road to liberation. Therefore, the "Samadha" of Buddhism is first of all a way to achieve the realm of liberation.

"Monks! What is the cloud of mindfulness? Monks! There are monks here, living with their bodies, but enthusiastic, knowledgeable and thoughtful, living with greed and anxiety about the world; Be enthusiastic, knowledgeable and thoughtful, and live with greed and anxiety about the world; In the heart, follow the heart, but be enthusiastic, correct and thoughtful, and live with greed and anxiety about the world; In Dharma, you should be enthusiastic, upright, mindful, and live with worldly greed and anxiety. Monks! This is called mindfulness. " -the corresponding department s45.8,784 Zaahan Sutra, Buddhist Eight Path Sutra.

To sum up briefly, Samasati lives with four thoughts and calms greed and troubles with enthusiasm and correct knowledge. This kind of shallow mindfulness on the road of liberation has both real observation and positive thinking activities.

However, as the above two teachers said, the meaning of "mindfulness" in the modern west is no longer like this.

Modern mindfulness is mainly "perception without judgment", and only a small part of "following the view" in Buddhist mindfulness Samma Sati is retained. Therefore, when discussing the concept of mindfulness, it is generally best to distinguish between traditional Buddhism and modern mindfulness.

Finally, I return to the question of the connection between Vipassana and mindfulness. I think Vipassana and modern mindfulness meditation can only be said to have similarities in form, and the purpose and theoretical background of meditation are fundamentally different. The relationship between Vipassana and mindfulness of Buddhist significance is exactly what I am thinking, and that is why I found this post, so I dare not draw any conclusions prematurely here.

I quite agree with Teacher Jiao's last sentence, and I quote it as the end:

"From an academic point of view, we should be rigorous in our studies. Only in life, there is no right or wrong. If you live according to your own values, there is no need to argue whether you are right or wrong. "
