Architectural landscape of Caotang Temple
The four characters "Caotang Temple" hanging on the lintel in the middle of the mountain gate were inscribed by Zhao Puchu, a famous calligrapher, former president of the Chinese Buddhist Association and vice chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

There are three mountain gates, with a width of 1 1 m and a depth of 6.8 m. Because the temple lives in the mountains, it is named "Shanmen".

Because the gate of a Buddhist temple is divided into three rooms, the middle of which is empty and the sides are empty, it is also called "three doors". Interestingly, some Buddhist temples are called "three gates" even if they have only one gate. The reason lies in its religious meaning, and the mountain gate is the boundary between monks and customs. The bottom of the Bell and Drum Tower is square, with a width of 7.5 meters, a base width of 8.4 meters and a height of 1 1 meter. Wooden brick-concrete structure, square four domes, double eaves and three drops of water, pyramid-shaped roof, cloisters and stairs.

Drum Tower is in the west, with a diameter of 1.8m and a height of1.8m. ..

The bell tower is in the east, and the big iron clock cast by 1998 is hung on the upper part. The bell of the thatched cottage reverberates inside and outside the temple, and there is a saying among the people that "the thatched cottage rings the bell and the Gaoguantan listens to the sound". Maitreya Buddha is enshrined in the middle of Tianwang Temple, and two things are for the four heavenly kings.

Couplets outside the temple:

The world is hidden in the belly;

After laughing, spit out Gankun.

The threshold is "all-round". The stele gallery was built in 1956, with twelve single eaves and an area of 120 square meters. It is concave, facing the main hall and connected with the east and west wings, forming the inner courtyard of Caotang Temple. 1998, a new stele gallery with east-west symmetry was built, in which 28 steles of past dynasties were embedded and well preserved.

Among them, Emperor Taizong praised Yao and Qin Sanzang's poem "The Monument to Master Luo", which said: "Qin is now a holy star, which shows my integrity. 100,000 quicksand came to vibrate the tin, and 3,000 disciples translated the scriptures. The article contains precious jade to know its fairy, and its tongue is like Sun Lanxiang. I can't help sighing about the Xiaoyao Garden, and the idle moon is green. " The Ursa Major Hall inscribed by Zhao Puchu covers an area of 760 square meters.

The center of the throne is dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha, and both sides of the Buddha stand on Mahayana and Ananda respectively.

On the west side of the main hall is Amitabha, the founder of the western paradise, holding a lotus platform to attract all beings to the paradise.

On the east side is the pharmacist Liuliguang of the Liuli world in the East. The pharmacist Tathagata holds the stupa.

Behind the Three Buddhas is a tall wall, imitating the story of fifty-three rich children in Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou.

On the platform of the east and west hatchbacks, nine statues of arhats are each molded.

On both sides of Mahayana Hall, there are two monuments, Mahayana Bodhisattva Sutra and Mahayana Infinite Righteousness Sutra. Dabeitang was built in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. Five rooms, width 18.2 1 m, depth 9.5 m, brick and wood structure, hard peak. On the forehead of the main entrance, there was a big plaque written by Miao Master in the thirty-sixth year of the Republic of China (1947), so it was also called the Free and unfettered Sanzang Hall.

Now, because the original abbot of Caotang Temple, Master Honglin, stopped here after nirvana, it is also called Nirvana Hall.

The wonders of smoke curling up in the well often add a mysterious color to Caotang Temple. There is a poem by Zhu Jiyi, a poet, which vividly describes this spectacle on the eight scenic steles in Guanzhong existing in the forest of steles in An: "The smoke is empty, and the shadow of the dragon in the thatched cottage is unclear. The bell rang outside the cloud, and the person opposite the crane came to meet the jade girl. "

The Smoke Well is located in the northwest corner of the temple, and the "Smoke Well" inscribed by Mr. Zhao Puchu hangs in the pavilion.

Smoke well is commonly known as Longjing. According to legend, there is a huge rock underground, on which lies a dragon, which exhales in the morning and evening and emerges from the wellhead, thus becoming "smoke". Others say that since ancient times, Buddhism in Caotang Temple has flourished, and countless people have made pilgrimages to worship Buddha, so that cigarettes have ascended to heaven and merged with the mountain atmosphere to become "cigarettes". Caotang Temple was originally a part of Xiaoyao Garden, located in the ancient Shanglin Garden. The bamboo forest is dense and beautiful. Cheng Hao, a great philosopher in Song Dynasty, stayed at Caotang Temple in the evening when he was in charge of Huxian County. He once wrote a poem: "In Lv Yun, a split-level building, four sides are connected by a path. He is studying in Huayang Town, and the immortals live in the Kremlin. " The poem has the author's original note: the temple is in the heart of the bamboo forest, and its bamboo cover will be ten hectares. It is known that there are ten hectares of bamboo forests around Caotang Temple in Song Dynasty. When the Caotang Temple was rebuilt in the Yuan Dynasty, all the bamboo needed was made from local materials. Due to deforestation, there were few bamboos left in Qing Dynasty. After liberation, we paid attention to nursing, and now it has grown to three acres. The Tibetan Scripture Building is the largest existing building in Caotang Temple.

The Buddhist scripture building has a total investment of150,000 yuan and a total construction area of 3,760 square meters. It was started in 2005 and completed in June 20 14. It is a double-eaves, three-falling mountain style in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are five bronze-backed gold-plated Buddha statues with thousands of books. "Kumarajiva Sanzang Master Memorial Hall" donated160,000 yen to Japanese Rilian Sect. There are five memorial halls, 24m wide and16.5m deep. Two Chinese and Japanese stone tablets are embedded in the east wall of the memorial hall.

The hall is dedicated to the statue of Kumarajiva, carved with a whole piece of nanmu, with a height of 120cm, a chest width of 84cm, a tray seat part of 105cm and a lotus seat of 126cm and 88cm. Wearing a round hat, hanging two streamers on his chest, wearing a cassock, sitting on the lotus petal seat, sitting quietly with his hands flat in front of him, smiling all over his face, lifelike. This picture shows 1982 April 13. Rilian sent Zun Luo as the ancestor and Caotang Temple as the ancestral court. Carve this image and put it in Caotang Temple. The backlight of Kumarajiva's portrait is a colorful flying picture, painted by Japanese painter Makiko, and the action images of each character are vivid.

On the monument wall on the east side of Kumarajiva Memorial Hall, there is a poem written by Zhao Puchu in April 1982, which reads: "The trees and plants are all reflected on the courtyard steps, and the sun is shining at dusk, even the smoke is blooming. The image of teaching is hidden and obvious, and Baifu sits solemnly in the Dojo, shining in ten directions. Sound and qi complement each other, and the French sound is not limited to three continents. Since then, it has spread widely. Driving a white ox cart together, courting Koge and protecting the Wangs. Sadness is predestined, away from the wind and rain, and the world is solemn. "
