Tips for heatstroke prevention and cooling in summer?
The summer climate is hot and there are few natural winds. Chickens have poor adaptability to high temperature because they are full of feathers and have no sweat glands. Relatively speaking, chicks can tolerate high temperature, while middle-aged chickens, especially large chickens, have low tolerance to high temperature. Pay attention when the indoor temperature reaches 32℃; If it exceeds 35℃, problems may occur. A little carelessness in summer will cause losses, so we should do a good job in heatstroke prevention and cooling. For details, please refer to the following measures:

(1) Reduce the radiation heat and reflection heat suffered by the henhouse: white paint can be painted outside the roof to increase the thermal reflection, which can generally reduce the temperature1~ 2℃; When the weather is very hot, you can also spray water on the roof, so that the temperature of the house will drop by about 3℃. Grass should be planted around the henhouse to prevent the ground from being exposed and reduce thermal reflection; At the same time, the grassland evaporates a lot of water vapor, which makes the air moist and plays a role in dust prevention and cooling.

(2) Increase the ventilation rate and airflow speed in the shed: all doors and windows should be opened in the open chicken coop, and electric fans can be installed when there is no natural wind to speed up the air flow in the shed. It is best to change the closed henhouse into longitudinal ventilation and adopt axial fan with low speed, low static pressure and large flow. Wet curtain cooling technology can be used to further reduce the indoor temperature where conditions permit.

(3) The henhouse building uses materials with good thermal insulation performance: materials with low solar heat absorption rate are selected for the roof surface, and generally speaking, black materials have high solar heat absorption rate. To design a good roof slope, the roof slope is closely related to solar radiation heat. Generally, the slope is 3∶ 10, but when designing plastic greenhouses, the slope should absorb solar radiation heat to the maximum extent, and vice versa.

(4) Adjustment of feeding management: The feeding density should be appropriately reduced in summer. To improve the level of protein in diet, it is necessary to use some high-quality raw materials, such as imported fish meal and amino acids. Eat at night and in the morning. Providing cool drinking water is very effective in lowering the body temperature of chickens. Vitamin C and other electrolytes can be added to drinking water when necessary to reduce the influence of heat stress.
