The people of China love to believe in God, and not only all ethnic groups and regions have their own gods that they respect and worship. All walks of life also have their own gods, and the chef industry naturally has a "kitchen god." China's kitchen god is different from other gods. They have four gods: Yi Yin, Peng Zu, Yiya and Wang Zhan.
Yi Yin-the Kitchen God who can't cook the most.
Yi Yin is the dowry of Shang Tang's wife. According to Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals, when Yi Yin's mother was pregnant, she dreamed that God said to her, "If you see water bubbling in the stone mortar, run east and don't look back." The next day, water appeared in the stone mortar. She ran more than ten miles to the east. Looking back, there was a piece of Wang Yang behind me, and Yi Yin's mother turned into a mulberry tree. A woman from Xin found a baby in the mulberry forest and gave it to the monarch, named "Yi Yin". When he grew up, Yi Yin was very talented. When Shang Tang heard of Yi Yin's reputation, he asked King Xin for Yi Yin and proposed to Shenyang. So King Xin gave Yi Yin to the Shang Dynasty as a dowry. Later, Yi Yin helped Shang Tang to set up a dynasty in Xia Jie.
How can Yi Yin be regarded as a kitchen god? According to legend, at the ceremony of welcoming Yi Yin in Shang Tang, Yi Yin told all kinds of delicious food from seasoning, telling Shang Tang that if you want to eat these delicious foods, you must have a good horse and become the son of heaven. And to be the son of heaven, you must be benevolent. Dialogue between Yi Yin and Shang Tang is the earliest document in the history of cooking. So Yi Yin is called the Kitchen God, but he has never cooked a dish.
Peng Zu-the most "rambling" kitchen god
Peng Zu, also known as Peng Keng, is the grandson of Wu Hui of Zhu Rong and the third son of Lv Zhong. According to the legend of the immortal, he is "quiet, does not consider worldly affairs, does not respect his reputation, does not decorate his car clothes, but is committed to keeping healthy". He is a doctor, but he often lives in seclusion due to illness, does not ask about political affairs, often travels, does not ride horses, and is free and loose. However, he knows how to keep healthy. Although he is 275 years old, he seems to be in his fifties and sixties.
It is said that Peng Keng's secret recipe for health preservation is to create wild chicken soup for Yao Emperor with pheasant and five flavors, which was praised by Yao Emperor and made him a vassal of Peng Emperor and the ancestor of Dapeng clan. Later people called him Peng Zu, and he was also regarded as the kitchen god because of his good health.
