1996 The Ministry of Health launched the People's Republic of China (PRC) Nurse Practice Certificate Examination nationwide. It is understood that the examination adopts a standardized examination mode, which is divided into two majors: Chinese medicine and western medicine. The examination content includes five subjects: basic nursing, internal medicine nursing, surgical nursing, obstetrics and gynecology nursing and pediatric nursing.

The application conditions are:

1. Obtained the graduation certificate of nursing specialty of secondary health nurse school recognized by provincial education administrative department and health administrative department;

2. Obtained the graduation certificate of nursing specialty approved by the education administrative department of the State Council;

3. Diploma and nurse's practice license of overseas secondary or higher medical colleges recognized by the administrative department of education in the State Council, in which foreigners shall obtain the HSK qualification certificate stipulated by People's Republic of China (PRC) and practice in medical institutions designated by the administrative department of health for more than 3 months.

The national nurse practice examination implements unified organization, unified outline, unified examination questions and unified grading standards. The examination shall be organized and implemented by the National Medical Examination Center, and the medical administrative department of the health administrative department at or above the prefecture level shall undertake the examination implementation in this area. Those who pass the examination will be awarded the "People's Republic of China (PRC) Nurse Practice Certificate" issued by the Ministry of Health. The certificate is valid nationwide. Candidates apply to the administrative department of health for practice registration with this certificate.

Beijing is scheduled to take the exam in the first week of April every year, and the registration time is at the end of the previous year.
