What are 96 kinds of heretics mentioned in Buddhism? Where does the classic source come from?
96 kinds of heretics refer to Taoism other than Buddhism. In the Buddha's time, India (in the middle reaches of Ganges River) had six kinds of external roads, also known as six external roads.

Six departments refer to six departments, namely, Fulana Ye Jia, Mujiali Shoushe Pear, Roger Yepiro, Ajidou Sheqin Boluo, Garo Dojo Togayan, Niganduo Ruoti and so on.

Each of the six departments has fifteen disciples, a total of 96. Six teachers have sixteen learning methods, one of which is self-study, and the other fifteen are taught to fifteen disciples. Together, there are 96 kinds of learning methods, so they are called 96 kinds of heretics.
