Confucius said, a wise man enjoys water, a benevolent man enjoys Leshan, a learned man moves, and a benevolent man is quiet. What does it mean that the wise enjoy the life of the benevolent?
Confucius said, "The knower enjoys water, and the benevolent enjoys Leshan; The knower moves, and the benevolent is quiet; Those who know are happy, and those who are benevolent are longevity. " Note (1) The knower enjoys water, while the benevolent Leshan: "knowledge" and "wisdom" are homonyms; Music, Guyinyao, means love. Confucius said: "The wise man love the water, while the wise man loves mountains;" Wise people move, benevolent people are quiet. Wise people are happy, and benevolent people live long. "Comment on the' wise men' and' benevolent people' mentioned by Confucius here, not ordinary people, but those cultivated' gentlemen'. He hoped that people could achieve "wisdom" and "benevolence". As long as they possessed these qualities, they could adapt to the requirements of the society at that time. Confucius believes that man and nature are integrated, and the characteristics of mountains and water are also reflected in people's quality. Therefore, he said, "Wise people enjoy water, while benevolent people enjoy Leshan: wise people move, while benevolent people are quiet;" "Wise people are happy, and benevolent people live." In the ever-changing nature, the mountain is stable and reliable. It stands forever and is the most reliable support. Water is changeable and has different characteristics. It doesn't have a fixed and lasting image like a mountain. It is soft and sharp, which can be good or evil. Difficult to follow, unfathomable and insurmountable. Smart people, like water, are resourceful, often able to clearly observe the development of things, "know everything, say everything", rather than sticking to some unchangeable standards or rules, so they can get rid of ignorance and difficulties and succeed. Even if you can't succeed, you can let nature take its course and seek another development. Therefore, they are always positive and optimistic. A caring person is as calm as a mountain and is not shaken by foreign things. They treat people and things with love, open their arms to everything like a mountain, stand tall and look far, are tolerant and kind, do not serve, do not hurt things, do not worry or be afraid, so they can live a long life. Wisdom, benevolence and courage are the highest ideals of Confucian personality. Courage is the result of wisdom and kindness. Perseverance is like a mountain and courage is like water. This is a noble person, a valuable person, a happy person and a long-lived person. Today, it is still the highest pursuit of me and many people in China to love love the water and take mountains and water as life models.
