Three methods of removing water stains on glass
Method 1

Use a non-liquid cleaner

1, wipe it first. Try to wipe off water stains before using expensive and potentially toxic cleaning products. In order not to leave scratches on the glass surface, it is recommended that you use magic cleaning sponge or non-trace scouring pad to wipe the glass. [1] Wet the sponge and wipe off the water stains on the glass as hard as possible. Do not use a hard brush or rough cleaning tools, or you will scratch the glass. As long as you rub hard, those small areas of water stains, new stains, and water stains that have not been deposited before can be wiped off. [2]

Step 2 use baking soda. If it is to deal with old stains or large areas of water stains, wiping alone is not enough. Baking soda is a very effective solid household cleaner, which is not only natural, but also easy to buy. Look for it, maybe it's in your pantry! [3] Baking soda is an alkaline substance, and its chemical reaction can offset the deposition of minerals in water. Baking soda is pure natural, biodegradable, safe and environmentally friendly, and is suitable for replacing irritating chemical cleaners. [4] People have two views on the cleaning effect of baking soda: one thinks that baking soda can be an effective cleaning paste after mixing with vinegar, [5] while the other thinks that alkaline baking soda should not be mixed with acidic vinegar, otherwise the chemical effects of the two will cancel each other out. [6] Here is a compromise. Spray some white vinegar on the glass surface first, wipe it thoroughly with baking soda after 30 minutes, and then rinse it with clear water.

3. Wipe off water stains with toothpaste. Besides baking soda, many housewives also like to use toothpaste to remove water stains. [7] Apply some toothpaste to the wet towel, and then wipe the glass in circles. After a few minutes, wash off the residual water stains with the same amount of vinegar solution.

4. Use the cleaning cream you bought. You can buy a cleaning cream specially used to remove hard scale from the store. Compared with liquid detergent, the advantage of cleaning paste is that it will not leave a watermark on the glass. The disadvantage of cleaning paste is that if it is not cleaned, it will leave fuzzy marks on the glass. Therefore, you must read the instructions carefully when using them to achieve the best cleaning effect.

Method 2

Use liquid cleaner

1. Mix water and salt. Remove mineral deposits with salt solution. As a detergent, salt can penetrate stains. Spray the solution on the part to be cleaned, then take a clean cloth and wipe the stain in a circular way. After wiping, rinse the salt solution on the glass surface thoroughly with clear water.

2. Use white vinegar. Vinegar is an acid that can decompose mineral deposits. Moreover, it is colorless and transparent and will not leave any traces on the glass. Vinegar is also a natural and non-toxic liquid cleaner, which will not harm users' eyes and lungs like other chemical products. Adding some lemon juice to vinegar can not only enhance the decontamination effect, but also leave the fragrance of lemon on the glass. Lemon juice is acidic, so it can disintegrate mineral deposits like vinegar. [8] Put vinegar and lemon juice into the watering can, and then put it into the microwave oven to heat it for a while. According to the power of the microwave oven, the heating time should be between 20 and 40 seconds. Compared with cold solution or normal temperature solution, heated solution has better decontamination effect. Remember to take off the lid of the watering can when heating, or the liquid will explode when heated. [9] Spray the mixed liquid on the glass surface, and dry it with a lint-free rag or kitchen paper towel after 2 to 3 minutes. If you want to clean glasses or other small glass products, mix the same amount of water and vinegar in the pool, then immerse the items in the liquid, let them stand for a few hours and then rinse them off.

3. Add cleaning agent to the dishwasher. Rinsing agent can effectively remove water stains on dishes, and bright dishes are a common rinsing agent. When cleaning, first inject the rinse agent into the designated area of the dishwasher, then add your usual washing powder, and then turn on the dishwasher, and your cups and dishes will soon be as bright as new.

4. Add ammonia water to general cleaning products. In order to remove stubborn water stains, we can try to add ammonia water to the universal glass cleaner to enhance the stain removal effect. [ 10]

5. Use chemical cleaning scale remover. If the "home formula" mentioned above can't solve the problem, then you have to have a trump card-a special cleaning product with strong acidity. These products are suitable for home use. Different manufacturers have different product names. Usually, this product contains acidic substances such as sulfamic acid as active detergent ingredients. Always wear long-sleeved trousers, gloves and goggles when touching acid cleaners, and carefully follow the instructions on the package. [1 1] This cleaner can be safely used on the surfaces of hard materials such as tiles and glass, but natural marble, stone, terrazzo, aluminum or colored gypsum can never be cleaned with the above products. Because the cleaning agent may penetrate into the porous surface, leaving ugly marks. [ 12]

6. Ask the hardware store staff for help. If the above products still fail to achieve the expected effect, you can go to the local hardware store to buy a stronger cleaner. The effect of this kind of product is usually quite fierce, so you must follow all the instructions carefully when using it. [ 13]

Method 3

Prevent the formation of water stains

1, put an end to water damage. The best way to remove water stains is to change the PH value and mineral content in water to prevent the formation of water stains from the source. You can install a water purifier to remove minerals from the water. [14] Add water softener to water to neutralize minerals in hard water.

2, often clean the glass surface. If the glass is wet, as long as it is wiped clean immediately, it can prevent the water from leaving traces after evaporation. After each bath, dry the water on the glass door with a lint-free towel or rubber rag. [15] Wash the glass once a week to prevent mineral accumulation. Deal with water stains as soon as possible. The longer the water stain is formed, the more difficult it is to remove; If you don't pay attention for a long time, water stains will even corrode the glass surface, leaving permanent marks. [ 16]

3. Take protective measures and get ready. You can prevent water stains from forming by covering or sealing the glass surface. Use coasters under the glass to protect the glass table top. Coasters can isolate spilled liquid and prevent cups from leaving marks on the table. [17] For the glass door of the shower room, a wax-containing protective film can be attached and replaced once or twice a year. After sticking the film, the water will not stay on the glass, but flow away directly, so that the glass door can be kept clean at any time. [ 18]

skill

If you are in doubt about a product, try it in an inconspicuous place first to avoid damaging the item. [19] If the water stain is stubborn, spray another layer of cleaning agent, and then clean the glass later. In order to achieve the best effect, you can repeat it several times. When cleaning the glass surface, try to choose sponge instead of cloth; Sponges are not as rough as cloth and are more durable. [20]

warn

Follow the instructions on the product label and take protective measures before using chemical cleaners, such as wearing gloves, goggles and masks. It is forbidden to mix ammonia and bleach.
