Many people have lung nodules and are worried that they will become cancerous. Generally speaking, lung nodules are benign nodules. The malignant probability of pulmonary nodules with diameter less than 5mm is 0%~ 1%, that of pulmonary nodules with diameter 1 1~20mm is 33%~64%, and that of pulmonary nodules with diameter greater than 20mm is 64%~82%. The bigger the lung nodule, the higher the degree of malignancy.
Traditional Chinese medicine does not have the name of "pulmonary nodule", but it belongs to the category of cough, phlegm and scrofula. The basic pathogenesis of this disease is qi deficiency, phlegm and blood stasis blocking Yang lung collaterals. Exogenous six evils, emotional internal injuries, improper diet, fatigue, and insufficient endowment can all lead to stagnation of qi and water, producing phlegm and phlegm, blocking blood circulation for a long time, producing blood stasis, invading the lungs and chest from outside to inside, and blocking lung collaterals with phlegm and blood stasis, resulting in nodules.
I have seen such a patient with pulmonary nodules, who is 50 years old and has been smoking for 20 years. The patient has a nodule in the lower lobe of the left lung with a diameter of 17 mm, which may be diagnosed as malignant, and surgery is recommended. The patient and his family refused the operation, so they sought Chinese medicine treatment. During my diagnosis and treatment, patients occasionally have cough, fatigue, dry mouth, dark red tongue and rapid pulse. According to my diagnosis, lung accumulation is a syndrome of deficiency of both qi and yin and mutual accumulation of phlegm and blood stasis. The treatment is mainly based on benefiting qi, nourishing yin and resolving phlegm, and the prescription is modified by Shengmai Decoction and Liuwei Dihuang Pill. The prescription comprises Radix Codonopsis, Radix Ophiopogonis, Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis, Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, Fructus Crataegi, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Cortex Moutan, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Alismatis Rhizoma, Carapax Trionycis, Coicis Semen, Ginseng Radix and Shā rotto Katakuri.
The patient is over 50 years old, with deficiency of kidney qi and vaginal fluid. Over time, deficiency of both qi and yin, endogenous pathogenic toxin, qi stagnation and blood stasis lead to this disease. Lung accumulation is related to deficiency of qi, blood, yin and yang caused by deficiency of lung, spleen and kidney, and vulnerability to wind and evil. The patient was weak after a long illness, consuming gas and hurting blood, showing fatigue. Dark red tongue and thin pulse are manifestations of deficiency of both qi and yin. Therefore, I used Shengmai Decoction combined with Liuwei Dihuang Pill for treatment. In the prescription, Codonopsis pilosula, Ophiopogon japonicus and Schisandra chinensis are used for benefiting qi and nourishing yin, Rehmannia glutinosa is used for nourishing kidney and marrow, Cornus officinalis is used for nourishing liver and kidney, Chinese yam is used for invigorating spleen and nourishing yin, Alisma orientalis is used for removing dampness and kidney turbidity, Cortex Moutan and Radix Paeoniae Rubra are used for clearing fire, Poria is used for removing dampness, Carapax Trionycis is baked, Ginseng and Coicis Semen are used for diminishing inflammation, and Shā rotto Katakuri is used for clearing away heat. The whole prescription highlights the functions of benefiting qi and nourishing yin, tonifying both qi and yin, After three months of treatment, the patient's cough was relieved, his dry mouth disappeared and his fatigue gradually disappeared. What makes the patient most happy is that the nodules of the patient are significantly reduced after treatment.
In fact, if you have lung nodules, you don't need to be too flustered, because nodules are generally benign nodules and the possibility of malignancy is extremely low. But sometimes many patients, because of their nervousness, lead to the enlargement and malignant transformation of nodules, so it is particularly critical to treat nodules and maintain a good attitude.
