Recently, I often hear the statement of acidic constitution, and even some medical workers regard it as medical common sense, but in fact, this statement is a fake medical theory fabricated by some people engaged in health care products sales for promotion. According to this theory, human blood is weakly alkaline, and due to the influence of unhealthy diet and living habits, our constitution gradually turns into acidic constitution, and the blood is weakly acidic, which leads to discomfort or sub-health in all aspects of the body. If it continues to develop, it will lead to major diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension and so on. And according to this theory, the main cause of acidic constitution is eating acidic food. Therefore, in order to prevent the constitution from becoming acidic, it is necessary to eat more alkaline foods or some health care products that can improve the acidic constitution.

In fact, this theory is simply a scam, and it is not recognized by the medical community at all.

Advocates of this theory say that the division between acidic food and alkaline food is not based on the pH of the food itself, but on the influence of food on the pH of body fluids after digestion and metabolism in the body. For example, they say that lemon is an alkaline food, but we know that lemon is actually obviously acidic. After digestion, absorption and metabolism, food will produce many different substances. So which substance should be used to determine the acidity and alkalinity of food? If you want to measure all metabolites comprehensively, how should you measure them? So there is no scientific basis for such a division. For the same food, different experts have different definitions of its pH value, and even the opposite situation appears.

Our blood has its own way of maintaining pH balance, and it is difficult to influence the pH of blood through the metabolites of food. Even if the blood is acidic due to some factors, it should not belong to acidic constitution, but should be acidosis, which needs timely treatment, for example, renal insufficiency prevents acidic substances from being discharged and acidosis occurs, and so on. Accordingly, if some factors cause the blood to be alkaline, it should be classified as a symptom of alkalosis and need immediate treatment. It can't be called alkaline constitution at all, and some people boast that if it is alkaline constitution, it can inhibit the occurrence of tumors or kill tumor cells, which is pure nonsense. In a word, it is unscientific to influence the pH of the body through food. A healthy diet is the diversity and balance of food, reasonable collocation and proper intake, which is the way of scientific health preservation.
