Why do you feel comfortable after running?
People usually think that the pleasure felt by runners is caused by endorphins, while German researchers think that this pleasure is caused by endogenous cannabinoids, which is the same as people smoking marijuana. Endorphins are natural chemicals produced by human body, which have similar analgesic effect to morphine. In high-intensity exercise, muscle stretching or tearing will accelerate the secretion of endorphins.
To prove this, German researchers conducted three experiments on mice to find out which chemicals make runners happy. The reporter of the research report said: "If you put a wheel in the cage to let the mice run, they will be happy to run for 12 hours every day, and the distance is about 10 km. They really have the motivation to run, and their bodies generate strong power to run on wheels. Therefore, it is very appropriate to use them to study why humans have the motivation to exercise. "
At first, the researchers divided the mice into two groups, one running on the wheels in the cage and the other not running. The researchers monitored the anxiety and pain sensitivity of two groups of mice, and the results showed that running could reduce these two feelings. They found that running mice had higher levels of endogenous cannabinoids. In the next experiment, when the running mice were given drugs to inhibit endorphins, their anxiety and pain sensitivity decreased as usual. However, mice taking drugs that inhibit endogenous cannabinoids no longer enjoy running.
In the third experiment, the researchers removed the genes that accept cannabis ingredients from the brains of mice. The mice began to run normally, but lost interest after a few days. Based on this, researchers believe that endogenous cannabinoids are the reason why people think running is cool.
The research results released by the researchers said: "Running for a long time will bring you pleasure, which is a subjective feeling of people. For decades, people thought that exercise caused the secretion of endorphins, which was the only reason for running to get pleasure. But recent studies have proved that endogenous cannabinoids may also play a role. "
