The Origin of Artificial Flowers Floriculture Design of Saifeng in Yiwu
Tracing back to history, artificial flowers have a history of at least 1300 years in China. According to legend, Yang Guifei, the favorite princess of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, had a scar on her left sideburns. Every day, the maid-in-waiting was asked to pick flowers and wear them on her sideburns. But in winter, all the flowers withered. An ingenious maid-in-waiting made artificial flowers for Yang Guifei with ribs and silk. Later, this "headdress flower" spread to the people and gradually developed into a unique handicraft "artificial flower".

In Qing Dynasty, silk flower produced by famous Beijing artists won an award at Panama World Expo. Nowadays, the variety has grown from dozens to more than two thousand, including opera flowers, flower strips, flower baskets and bonsai. Since the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, Beijing has developed into the production center of silk flower, so silk flower is also called "Jinghua Er". The famous flower market street in Beijing is named after the distribution center for processing "Jinghua Er".
