How to raise snapping turtles well
A flat-backed snapping turtle is a big snapping turtle.

As a unique species of water turtles, predators are loved by many water turtle lovers because of their atmospheric appearance, strong physique and strange hunting methods. In recent years, it has gradually entered the Central Plains market. I concentrate on raising eggs, but I have always regarded crocodiles as a necessary breed. Now I will share my personal experience in raising eggs with you turtle friends. There are many domestic experts, please correct me.

First, aftercare.

Compared with many extroverted turtles such as egg turtles, crocodile's character is definitely the representative of introversion, which is extremely disproportionate to its fierce external image. For new turtles (especially older individuals), it really takes considerable patience to start eating, and the following points need to be done: 1, and create a good environment. Predators don't like light Try to keep it in shallow water (3-4 times the height of the back), and put a shelter on the water to keep out the light, so that the turtle can feel safe. 2. Shockproof placement. Novices are timid and sensitive to vibration. In addition to being placed in the shade, they can also be covered with a layer of bottom sand, or placed in an appropriate earthquake-proof way. It's a good idea to put foam plastic or multilayer newspapers under the cylinder. 3. Pay attention to observation. After setting up the feeding environment, you can put some live feed fish in it properly (don't expect predators to eat dead food at first), pay attention to the quantity put in, and then observe it regularly, so as not to affect turtles as much as possible. It's best to watch fishing with your mouth open. If you can't see it, you will find that the number of feed fish has decreased, which means that you have successfully started eating. 4. Opening hours. The feeding time is related to the individual condition of the turtle and the feeding situation before the start. At normal temperature, it usually takes 10 days or more. It takes patience to raise predators. If you mistakenly think that the tortoise is ill just because you didn't start eating in time, and take medicine immediately, then you will go astray. Taking the above measures can appropriately shorten the opening time. As long as there is conclusive evidence that the tortoise has not eaten for a long time and its body is getting thinner and thinner, it should be treated with drugs. In addition, if the temperature difference before and after starting is too large, it is necessary to slowly heat up and adjust. Second, train the bait.

Most water turtles do not have the problem of bait culture. Due to the unique hunting habits of predators, if you want to get a strong body, you must get more food and richer nutrition. In addition, the predator trained by bait can fundamentally prevent the back from collapsing, so as not to affect the appearance. 1, hungry. If a predator who has eaten for a while feels completely familiar with the environment (based on face-to-face fishing), it can train bait. Clean up the live bait in the jar first and be hungry for a few days. Generally, individuals with 10 cm carapace can be hungry for about 5 days, and the bigger the individual, the longer it will take. The longer the time, the higher the success rate. 2. Put in dead grain. Put a certain amount of dead material. Personally, it is best to use chopped fish, shrimp, lean meat or loach, which can increase the bloody smell in the water. Then pay attention to the quantity. If the bait is found to be less, even if the bait training is successful. 3, lure food. The so-called bait is to take certain measures to stimulate predators after feeding according to the fierce habits of predators, so as to improve the success rate of bait training. The specific methods are as follows: 1. Prepare tweezers or scissors and dead bait (not too small); Then fish the crocodile out of the water (be sure to note that a seemingly docile crocodile may inadvertently give you a heavy blow on your finger! ), if the crocodile opens its mouth to bite at this time, it can put the bait in its mouth with tweezers and then quickly put it into the water to leave, and the crocodile will enjoy the food in the water by itself. If you don't open your mouth, you can carefully stir the tip of your mouth with tweezers to stimulate the crocodile, and then use the above method after opening your mouth. This method is tried and tested, which can greatly improve the efficiency of bait training. I think it is also a cool thing for predators: "If you mess with me, I will eat you", hehe. Third, others.

1, algae removal on the crustacean. This is a topic that many turtle friends have been arguing about. Personally, I think predators will be more imposing if they put on green hair. ! But if you really want to remove it, try not to use a brush to avoid hurting the growth line of violence. Using a sweeper can clear the fish in a short time, but after a long time, the life of the fish is not guaranteed. Personal experience shows that snails that eat algae are the best choice, and the bigger the snail, the better. Because if there are enough live bait in the water as food, predators generally don't take the initiative to attack slow-moving snails, and many snails are as efficient as aliens in algae removal.

2. Treatment of broken tail tip. Carnivores have long tails, so they are more likely to have short tails. In order to prevent the tail tip from breaking, a larger feeding environment can be selected. If it is accidentally broken, it should be carefully observed to determine whether it is a fracture or a skin lesion. If skin lesions lead to slight curvature of the tail tip, measures should be taken in time to prevent the spread of infection. If it is a fracture, it is irreversible, but it should also be treated with trauma to prevent another fracture.
