Wang Weidong's Academic Contribution
1. Innovating Psychotherapy Department of Chinese Medicine: Professor Wang Weidong established the first "Qigong Psychology Department" in Guang 'anmen Hospital on 1990 (later changed to Psychology Department of Chinese Medicine), and in 2005, he established the "Sleep Medicine Joint Special Needs Clinic" and the "Psychology Teaching and Research Department of Chinese Medicine". This is the first time that the Chinese medicine industry has carried out clinical research on Chinese medicine psychology in a third-class first-class hospital. Long-term and arduous individual therapy, clinical research and practice accumulation have laid a clinical foundation for the emergence of systematic psychotherapy (SPT) in traditional Chinese medicine.

2. Innovating the method of TCM psychotherapy: After nearly 20 years' efforts, we summarized the systematic psychotherapy of TCM (SPT) with China culture and TCM characteristics, which is suitable for China people's mental diseases. It refers to the systematic thinking, viewpoint, method and technology of TCM psychotherapy technology and its application process under the guidance of "systematic TCM psychological theory", and gradually constructs the theory, method and technical system of TCM systematic psychotherapy. Including traditional Chinese medicine psychotherapy, modern Chinese medicine psychotherapy, Chinese medicine psychosomatic adjustment technology, various modern psychotherapy technologies, Qigong clubs, health clubs and various group health exercises with Chinese medicine characteristics. Among them, the so-called "modern psychotherapy of traditional Chinese medicine", that is, "a series of techniques of mind-guided psychotherapy in quiet state", is the core technology of systematic psychotherapy of traditional Chinese medicine (SPT), which was originally created by Professor Wang Weidong. Clinical application has proved that compared with other psychotherapy methods, it has three characteristics: good effect, quick onset and short course of treatment.

3. Innovating the management of TCM psychological wards: The systematic psychotherapy of TCM (SPT) was effectively introduced into the ward management of TCM hospitals, and a "unity of form and spirit" ward management mode of TCM was established in a pioneering way. Psychologists and physicians participate in ward management together, which provides a brand-new idea for improving the clinical efficacy of inpatients in traditional Chinese medicine.

4. Innovating the clinical application of TCM psychology: The application of TCM systematic psychotherapy (SPT) summarized through long-term exploration has achieved good clinical results in the treatment of depression, insomnia, anxiety and other common mental and psychological diseases, which has greatly increased the number of outpatients in recent years and provided patients with medical services with the characteristics of "integration of form and spirit". Systematic psychotherapy of traditional Chinese medicine has played an important role in psychological rescue services such as fighting SARS, earthquake relief and the 2008 Olympic Games, and accumulated a lot of first-hand experience for systematic psychotherapy of traditional Chinese medicine to participate in the emergency treatment of major public health emergencies in the future.
