Has the situation changed in the past three years?
According to the Food Contact Standard issued by People's Republic of China (PRC), stainless steel in contact with food, such as electric kettle, should comply with GB 4806.9-20 16 Metal Materials and Products for Food Contact, in which there are clear limit requirements for arsenic, cadmium, lead, chromium and nickel.

The results show that the detection of metal migration in 12 electric kettle meets the national standard.
Among them, Midea, Oaks and Chigo performed brilliantly, and were not detected under the experimental conditions of 4% acetic acid, boiling for 30 minutes and standing at room temperature for 24 hours.
Jiuyang and Rongshida, on the other hand, did not perform very well, with relatively more contents. The contents of chromium and nickel detected in Jiuyang were 0.0625 mg/kg, 0.0255 mg/kg, 0.0745 mg/kg and 0.027 mg/kg respectively.

So, is the 304 stainless steel claimed by the electric kettle really 304 stainless steel?
According to GB/T 20878-2007 "Brands and Chemical Compositions of Stainless Steel and Heat Resistant Steel", the metal content limits of 304 stainless steel (06Cr 19Ni 10) are as follows: Mn is 0~2%, Cr is 18~20%, and Ni is 8 ~.
The results show that the inner wall of 12 electric kettle is made of 304 stainless steel, which meets the national standard.
However, it is worth mentioning that the content of Ni (nickel) in 304 stainless steel used in 12 electric kettle is low, which is close to the lower limit of 8- 1 1% in the standard, about 8.00%~8.22%.
In particular, Kochi and Xiao Xiong have just reached the qualification line of 8.00%.
Why is it so coincidental that almost all electric kettles just meet or exceed the standard limit?
We know that nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) are relatively expensive. In order to save cost, stainless steel manufacturers of electric kettle may produce according to the lower limit of national standard to reduce the overall cost of raw materials, but the rust and corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel manufactured in this way may be lacking.
Electrical safety: all meet the standards and can be used with confidence.
Some consumers use electric kettles casually and like to cook tea and food. Use an electric kettle, or let it dry by mistake. So when consumers do these operations, is the safety guaranteed?
We also tested the abnormal working condition of 12 electric kettle.
The results show that 12 electric kettle meets the standard requirements, and it will not cause danger under abnormal or misoperation conditions, so consumers can use it with confidence.
Subjective experience: Chigo and Bear are in danger of scalding.
We also made subjective tests on boiling time, noise, handle temperature, shell temperature and lid temperature.
The results show that Bear, Vortex and Jinzao boil water faster, all in a little more than 3 minutes. However, Hemisphere and Rongshida boil water slowly, about 4 minutes.
This paper compares the tests of six electric kettles in Consumer Report in 20 16, but the boiling time of the test is between 5-8 minutes. In the past three years, the boiling capacity of electric kettle has been greatly improved.

Shell, handle and lid are all parts that consumers may come into contact with when cooking. If the temperature is very high, there may be a danger of scalding. The results show that the handle temperature of 12 product is below 30℃, and consumers can rest assured.
However, in the temperature measurement of the shell, the temperature of Chigo and Bear is higher, so consumers should pay special attention.
Comprehensive evaluation of CCR: Philips and Supor are recommended, but Hemisphere and Royalstar are not recommended.
A comprehensive evaluation of 12 hot water kettle was made based on the indexes of metal migration, material nominal, electrical safety and subjective experience.
