Pukou District, located in the northwest of Nanjing, is one of the eight districts in the main city of Nanjing, an important medical base, science and education base and advanced manufacturing base in China. It is the west bridgehead of the Yangtze River Delta radiating to the inland hinterland. It is a modern riverside area with integrated circuit industry, high-end transportation equipment industry and cultural tourism health industry as the leading industrial system, and together with Liuhe District, it constitutes Nanjing Jiangbei New District.
Pukou District has a patchwork topography, and has the reputation of "a generation of grass saints, Shili hot springs, Baili Laoshan, Millennium ginkgo, 10,000 egrets and 100,000 mu of national forest park". Three major tourism systems have been formed along the Laoshan Mountain, the Yangtze River and the Chuhe River, with "Pearl Spring-Laoshan-Tangquan Tourism Resort" as the core, urban scenic belts along the Yangtze River and rural tourism and leisure belts along the Chuhe River. The history of Pukou District can be traced back to the Hemudu era, with a civilization history of more than 7,000 years, which gave birth to diverse and unique local cultures.
