During the Qianlong period, Kang Yusheng, a native of Suri, Henan Province (now Kangdian, Zhengzhou, Henan Province), crossed the Yellow River with his family and moved to Lengcun, southwest of Huaiqing Prefecture (now Lengcun, southwest of wen county, Henan Province) to start planting and processing Huai medicine. In the thirty-eighth year of Qing Qianlong (A.D. 1773), Kangjia, a cold village in southwest China, experienced a growing trade in Huai medicine, and became its own firm "Huaishantang".
