What is the core literacy of biology?
The core literacy of biology is: outlook on life, rational thinking, scientific inquiry and sense of social responsibility.

Biology is a science that studies the structure, function, occurrence and development of organisms (including plants, animals and microorganisms) and is a part of natural science. The purpose is to clarify and control life activities, transform nature and serve the practice of agriculture, industry and medicine.

Biology, as a basic science, is traditionally the basis of agronomy and medicine, involving agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, medical care, pharmacy, health and so on. With the continuous development of biological theory and method, its application field is also expanding. The influence of biology has broken through the above-mentioned traditional fields and extended to food, chemical industry, environmental protection, energy and metallurgical industries and so on.

In ancient times before the development of natural science, people were puzzled by colorful creatures. They often regard life and inanimate objects as two completely different and unrelated fields, and think that life is not dominated by the laws of motion of inanimate objects.

Many people also attribute all kinds of life phenomena to an immaterial force, that is, the role of "vitality". These groundless speculations have been gradually abandoned with the development of biology and have no place in modern biology.

About 15000 BC, in the following 5000 years, the French made cave paintings in Lascaux, which shows that our ancestors have been observing the biological world. There are bison, deer and other animals in these paintings.
