Taoism is generally divided into two factions, one is orthodox and the other is quanzhen. Taoist priests who belong to orthodox religion are allowed to get married and have children. Taoist temples are handed down from generation to generation, and rarely accept outsiders, such as Zhang Tianshi of Longhu Mountain and A Bing, a blind man of the famous Erhu family. Taoist temples belonging to this kind are mostly concentrated in the south, such as Longhu Mountain and Maoshan Mountain. Quanzhen Taoist priests do not marry and have children, but Taoist priests do not avoid meat. The so-called vegetarians are mostly for health. Taoist temples belonging to this school include Wudang Mountain and Laoshan Mountain.
