Huaqing Palace reached its peak in the Tang Xuanzong period, and Xuanzong was more obedient to Taoism, so a large number of temples were built on Mount Li, such as the famous Laojun Hall and Yuan Chaoting.
There are hot springs in Huaqing Palace, and Xuanzong suffered from wind disease all the year round, where he once bathed for health.
Therefore, he named "Huaqingchi" after a Taoist word meaning immortality.
