Morality is not religion, but the ancients' understanding of nature. "Daoism" in ancient times and "science" today belong to metaphysics and metaphysics. The object of moral research is metaphysics; Scientific study of physics. Tao is the law of the existence and change of the universe itself; Science is the law of existence and change in the three-dimensional material world.

Virtue corresponds to Taoism and constitutes the core of Taoism. "On Taoism: Moral Significance" says that "morality is one, but its two meanings are different, one is different and the other is different". There are forty-one words "virtue" in Tao Te Ching, which put forward the ideas of "respecting virtue", "publicizing virtue", "Comte" and "accumulating virtue", that is, virtue is only subordinate to Tao. The fifty-first chapter says: "Moral education, shaping, potential success." It is based on the respect and virtue of all things. Respect for Tao, preciousness of morality, husband's life and nature. Therefore, it is generally believed that "virtuous people can contribute to Tao" (Korean), "virtuous people can be used by Tao" (Lu Deming) and "virtuous people can see Tao" (Su Zhe). Zhuangzi's "Heaven and Earth" said: "Those who connect heaven and earth are also virtuous; Those who walk in all things are also Tao. " He also said: "shape is not born, and morality is unknown. Living in poverty, like Ming Dow, is not the most kind and evil? Mr. Chen Gu, a contemporary China scholar studying in the United States, summarized morality into three points: first, "Tao is used for things"; Second, "Tao lies in all things, and its attribute, namely its virtue, is manifested in all things"; Third, "when Tao is put into practice in life, it is called virtue", that is, people's virtue. Early Taoism followed the pre-Qin Taoist theory. "Taiping Road Taiping Jing" Volume 56 to 64 says: "Tao, Heaven, Yang, Lord; Morality, land, yin and nurturing. ..... The husband is the master of life, and everything is born; Dexing is the Lord, everyone knows it, and there is no righteousness. " Here, Tao and virtue are also interpreted as the relationship between "giving birth to all things" and "nurturing all things", which is in the same strain as the thought in Tao Te Ching.
