According to relevant documents, Yamugou was called "Ghost Valley" before the Tang Dynasty, also known as "Hidden Dragon Valley". Later, a sacred tree grew in the valley. It looked like a stone and the flowers were very fragrant. It can exorcise evil spirits and cure diseases, eat its fruits, and enable couples who have not given birth for many years to have children, attracting countless local people to worship it. In ancient Tujia language, it was named "Yamu". Yamugou has been called "the first ditch in Guizhou" since ancient times.
Yamugou, with a total length of 50 kilometers, has a pleasant climate, with no severe cold in winter and no heat in summer. The annual average temperature is about 17℃, and the concentration of negative ions in the air is high, which is worthy of the reputation of natural oxygen bar. It is definitely an excellent place for adventure, curiosity, seclusion and leisure. Once a famous poet wrote after visiting Yamugou that "Xianfu is warm in winter and cool in summer, and Yamugou is beautiful".
