The relevant departments have learned that the application for protection of geographical indication products of Shuidong mustard tuber in Dianbai County has been officially approved by the State Quality Supervision Bureau, becoming the only vegetable variety in Guangdong Province that has been protected by national geographical indication products.

Shuidong mustard is a new high-quality vegetable variety with obvious local characteristics introduced from Liaoning Province. After repeated breeding and purification by vegetable farmers and agricultural personnel near Shuidong, Dianbai County, the shortcomings of the original variety were completely changed. Shuidong mustard tuber is famous at home and abroad for its unique advantages such as small core, few leaves, crisp taste, mellow sweetness, no residue and less fiber. It is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, riboflavin and trace elements, and has become a favorite table vegetable.

It is understood that the protection scope of geographical indication products of Shuidong mustard tuber includes the administrative areas under the jurisdiction of nine towns including Shuidong, Lintou, Guanzhu, Danchang, Magang, Shuzai, Diancheng, Lingmen and Mata. Among them, "Shuidong Chicken Heart Mustard", "Shuidong Lv Zheng Mustard" and "Shuidong Lantern Mustard" have passed the trademark registration and the certification of pollution-free agricultural products and green food, and the "Shuidong Chicken Heart Mustard" produced by Dianbai County Green Agriculture Company has also been designated as the special vegetable of restaurants under the group by Hong Kong Daoxiang Group.

At present, the planting area of Dianbaishuidong mustard tuber has reached 30,000 mu, with nearly 10,000 employees and an annual output of120,000 tons, which has become an important way for local farmers to increase their income. According to reports, in the next three to five years, the planting area of Shuidong mustard tuber will be expanded to more than 100 thousand mu.
