1, Meizhou Island

Meizhou Island is an island under the jurisdiction of Meizhou Town, Xiuyu District, Putian City, Fujian Province. It is located 42 kilometers southeast of Putian City, Fujian Province, and only 1.82 nautical miles away from the mainland. It is the second largest island in Putian, where Mazu became a god.

Meizhou Island is known as the "Penglai in the South", which has both the exciting sound of Meiyu tide and the Meizhou ancestral temple. There are more than 30 scenic spots such as "Oriental Hawaii", "Nine Treasures Band Blue Gold Beach" and "Little Stone Forest", and there are more than 200 million Mazu believers in Mazu Tempel. South Shaolin Temple is located in Jiulian Mountain Village, Xitianwei Town, Licheng District, Putian, about17km away from the urban area. South Shaolin Temple, formerly known as Linquan Temple, was built in the Yongding period of the Southern Dynasty (A.D. 577). In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, thirteen stick monks saved the Tang Priest. Emperor Taizong specially ordered the abbot of north shaolin Tanzong to build the Shaolin Temple in the south, which was called the South Shaolin Temple in history.
