In May, 2002, Dong Qing entered CCTV, when the Western Channel was established. She was invited to host one of the artistic programs "Charm 12" which was based on folk songs. She also participated in and hosted the 5th National Golden Microphone Awards Gala of CCTV, 2004CCTV-KBS China-Korea Song Festival, Come on for us-CCTV Music Channel launched a special program, CCTV 11th National Young TV Singers Grand Prix and other cultural programs. He also hosted the Spring Festival Gala in 2005, and won two awards of "Best TV Variety Show Host" and "Best TV Hostess" at this year's "International TV Hosts Forum and Annual Awards Ceremony", becoming a new generation leader of CCTV after Ni Ping and Zhou Tao.
Dong Qing now hosts Happy China and Charming China.
He used to be the host of self-run programs such as Shanghai Grand Theatre, Travel Notes of New Shanghai, Starting from the Stars, and Kiss Hundred People on Shanghai Satellite TV. He used to be the host of the literature and art department of Shanghai Oriental TV Station, and hosted dozens of large-scale variety shows such as "The Last Romance" and "Meet Saturday".
