Main activities
The sacrificial process in the year of Qiang mainly includes two stages: "making a wish to worship the gods" and "eating a feast". Before the first day of October, the whole Qiang village was full of festive atmosphere. Qiang people who have left their homes have rushed home.
Activities include offering sacrifices to gods and cows in order to wish that the sacrifices are blessings and disasters. One day, the gods who worship heaven and cattle will make collective sacrifices. At the same time, each household will worship separately, drink alcohol, take turns to entertain guests (in the village), dance in salons and hold various celebrations.
New Year's Eve is also called "Harvest Wine". On the first day of New Year's Day, the whole village went to the "Shenshulin" to make a wish. Buckwheat flour was also used to make buckwheat noodles, diced jiaozi and tofu, and some even made cows, sheep, horses, chickens and other animals with different shapes as sacrifices. The whole village will have a reunion dinner, drink Zasa and dance Sharon until everyone is happy.
The whole ceremony was presided over by Xu, while the miscellaneous wine was opened by the respected elders in the village. The next day, a family dinner was held to invite the married daughter back to her family.
Qiang people respect cows and call them parents of food and clothing. In the past, people in Qiang village didn't eat beef. On the first day of the tenth lunar month, the legend is the birthday of the cow god. It's the oath of Niuwang Temple to kill chickens. At the same time, Guan Niu stayed at home and fed flour buns and wheat straw to express his condolences. Some make sun-shaped and moon-shaped cakes, hang them on the horns, and then let the cows idle.
During the activity, "Shibi" sang the traditional epic of Qiang people, and people enjoyed themselves while singing and drinking.
