Yiyang Olympic Park was built by Yiyang City in August 2002 in accordance with the overall urban planning by hosting the Ninth National Games of Hunan Province in 2002 and the National Five-city Games in 2003.
The whole plot covers an area of 500 mu and is rectangular, with a length of more than 700 meters from east to west and a width of about 360 meters from north to south. It is adjacent to Zishanhu International Golf Course and Yiyang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government Office New Area, and it is adjacent to the urban main roads in the east, west, south and north, with entrances and exits. It is a sports theme park where nature and man-made blend, and modern architecture and hilly landscape are organically coordinated. Known as "the light of the Silver City".
There are several distribution squares, landscape sketches, lighting and waterscape, outdoor sports and fitness equipment, leisure and amusement facilities in the park, which have the functions of tourism, leisure and entertainment, sports and fitness, exhibitions and performances, sports events and so on. Since its establishment, more than ten sports events or large-scale performances have been held every year.
China Football Association Cup, Super League Women's Football League, League A Men's Football League, August 1st Home of National Women's Volleyball League in 2002-2008, World Cup Badminton in 2005-2007, National Women's Badminton League and other national and international major sports events have all settled here.
