This ancient mountain village, which is surrounded by mountains and rivers, has a long history. The proudest thing is that it has two state-level cultural relics protection units. On 20 19, houbi village was included in the fifth batch of traditional villages in China.
In this ancient mountain village, there is an ancient temple fair-March 24th Temple Fair, which is famous for its four miles and eight townships. This temple fair, which originated in the Tang Dynasty, is a large-scale temple fair held by eight clubs in four towns along the Zhang Zhuo River. It has continued since its rise and continues to this day.
The temple fair in Houbi Village on March 24th is different from other temple fairs. First, it has no religious superstition and has nothing to do with religion. Second, there is no religious ceremony in temple fair activities, mainly social fire activities, which are completely large-scale folk carnival activities; Thirdly, in ancient times, the temple fair on March 24th was a large-scale activity jointly organized by neighboring villages, with unprecedented pomp.
When the temple fair is held, the main activities are not only burning incense and offering sacrifices to the gods, but also social fire activities that people love to see, such as walking on stilts, running roller boats and dancing lions. It will last for three days, not in front of the temple, but in the People's Stage Square in the middle of the village.
At that time, people from the surrounding villages will come to watch the excitement, and the small mountain village will suddenly become a sea of joy. After years of evolution, in 20 19, based on the ancient temple fair, Houbi Village held the first ancient temple fair and cultural tourism art festival.
Hu Ge had a program of the art festival at that time, and 20 programs were packed. There are traditional roller coasters, magnificent gongs and drums, modern dances, ocean dances, aerobics, poetry readings, cross-dressing performances and other programs.
Not only people from Houbi Village participated in the performance, but also the surrounding Yanggao Village, Shicheng Village, Ao intellectual village Village, Chedang Village, Wangjiazhuang Village and Langshuyuan Village were invited to participate. The square is full of people, and there are bold people riding on the walls and branches nearby, which is really pleasing to the eye.
The second floor of the village party and mass service center directly opposite the stage is the best viewing point, with a sea of people, even sitting or standing on the stairs.
In addition to social fires and song and dance performances, small vendors with active brains also came to Houbi Village early, occupying favorable terrain to set up stalls and selling all kinds of snacks and farm tools seeds. This ancient village shows the prosperity of the market and is full of vitality.
The temple fair in Houbi Village on March 24th has a long history and high popularity, but which temple is it based on? Why isn't the temple fair held in front of the temple?
There is a very interesting legend about Dayu, who is in charge of water conservancy, and Wei Zhi, a famous figure in the Tang Dynasty.
This temple is the Wei Zhi Temple, and the locals also call it the Relief Sleepless Temple. It is dedicated to Wei Zhi, a famous politician and thinker in the Tang Dynasty. Wei Zhi Temple is located in the west of Houhai Village, beside the Zhang Zhuo River, on the floodplain known as Tan Yang.
The temple is three ordinary houses, with a front porch, brick walls and wooden doors, facing south, standing on a bench base of bluestone, with a stone table in front of the bench base and no courtyard walls around it, standing there alone.
This was rebuilt in the 1980s. The original temples have been repaired throughout the ages, and the scale and shape are large or small, and the orientation has also moved. However, no matter how it changed, Wei Zhi Temple continued to burn incense and offer sacrifices.
There are few temples dedicated to Wei Zhi in Changzhi area, and only one temple has been seen so far. Houbi Village is neither Wei Zhi's hometown nor its official seat, but it is very strange that Wei Zhi Temple happens to appear on the banks of the Zhang Zhuo River in a deep mountain canyon. Why is this?
According to the word-of-mouth of Houbi villagers and the arrangement of Pingshun local culture researcher Zhao Weiping, the origin of Wei Zhi Temple is like this.
The highest place in Houbei Village is called Yu Wang Nao, on which there is a shrine of Yu Xia, dedicated to Dayu, who is in charge of water conservancy. In the Tang Dynasty, the imperial court allocated funds to expand the Xiaci Temple, which was in the charge of Yan Li, a small official in Luzhou.
At that time, the construction headquarters was located in Huilongguan below Xiajing Shrine. Unexpectedly, Cui Yun, a monk in the temple, was greedy for money and tried to steal money and force him to die. Yan Li was reported to the government by the people because of poor management and wasting people's money.
The court appointed Wei Zhi to supervise the case. After full investigation, Wei Zhi visited the people in Miantan area along the Zhang Zhuo River and got to know the specific situation of the project construction.
Therefore, Wei Zhi summoned a bunch of people, including Luzhou Zhiming, Yan Li and Huilongguan abbot, to reprimand and warn them respectively. Wei Zhi also announced tax relief measures, that is, the imperial court reduced taxes for five years.
This matter is very popular with the people. Later, in order to commemorate Wei Zhi's virtue of punishing corruption and reducing taxes to save the people, the villagers built a temple in the hut on the beach where Wei Zhi lived, offering sacrifices, and set March 24th of the lunar calendar, the day when relief measures were announced, as a memorial day.
Since then, every year on this day, the villagers in the villages along the Zhang Zhuo River will get together to hold a community fire to commemorate it. Later, it evolved into a temple fair on March 24, which was also a large-scale reunion event in surrounding villages.
It has nothing to do with god or religion, but to commemorate a good minister who once treated the people well. Legendary stories have profound warning and educational significance, and have been passed down to this day through the annual Shehuo Temple Fair.
Yu Xia Temple and Huilongguan mentioned in legends and stories are both state-level cultural relics protection units. Yu Xia Temple, commonly known as Wang Yu Temple, was built in Yuan Dynasty (1336) and was renovated in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Once in the courtyard, the main buildings are the mountain gate (downfall), the main hall and the East-West Attached Hall. The main hall is a relic of the Yuan Dynasty. There is a beautiful stone platform in front of the hall with steps on both sides.
The platform is a flat square, about one meter high, about three meters long and about three meters short, in the shape of a waist. There are exquisite embossed animal patterns on three sides. In the east corner, there is a clear record-setting inscription.
Huilongguan is a building of A Jin dynasty. It is a legend that it can be preserved and elected as national security. It lives in the farmland in the west corner of the village and doesn't even have a courtyard wall. It's just three halls, which have long been used as timber warehouses in the village. To put it bluntly, it is a material warehouse, and no one takes it seriously.
200 1 By chance, teachers and students majoring in cultural relics and architecture of Peking University Institute of Archaeology and Culture conducted an internship in surveying and mapping of ancient buildings in Pingshun County. Teachers and students found that this house is a peak-hanging type, which is obviously different from ordinary houses and should be a temple.
After detailed surveying and mapping, sampling and determination of building materials, and scientific analysis of building shape, Huilongguan, a "material warehouse", revealed its true colors: early architecture in Jin Dynasty. The unknown material warehouse has grown into a small temple in rural areas, but it has become the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
One is in Yu Wang, the highest place in the village, and the other is high on the west bank of the village. One high and one low, echoing up and down, guarding the village for hundreds of years.
The history of Houbi Village is earlier than these two temples. It is said that Houbi Village, formerly known as Houbi Village, was related to Cai Yong during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. According to legend, when Lin Xiangru carried Caixi to the State of Qin, he arranged people to wait here in advance, hence the name Houbi. Later, the name was mistakenly written as "Houbi", and it was not easy to change it back.
The significance of tax reduction, disaster relief and warning education interpreted by ancient temple fairs is also worthy of our continued inheritance in the new era. Ancient villages, ancient temple fairs and two national treasures have become the best resources for developing rural tourism in Houbi Village, Yanggao Township, Pingshun County, and are also a powerful starting point for consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation and paying close attention to rural revitalization.
