On the evening of August 8, a large-scale celebration in Tiananmen Square was the focus of the whole series of celebrations. During the celebration that night, the International Olympic Committee will send invitations to the Olympic Committees of more than 200 countries and regions around the world to participate in the Beijing Olympic Games in Tiananmen Square. This is also the first time that the IOC has held this important ceremony in the host city of the Olympic Games. Nearly 10,000 people attended, including leaders of China countries, leaders of the International Olympic Committee, heads and representatives of Olympic committees of various countries (regions), diplomatic envoys and international friends of various countries in China, representatives of Olympic partners and sponsors, guests from all walks of life and representatives of the masses. That night, the audience will celebrate the first anniversary of the countdown in a cheerful program. In order to ensure the success of the celebration, the organizers also made full plans. If there is heavy rain, the activity will be transferred to the Great Hall of the People.

It is understood that in the evening, IOC President Jacques Rogge will personally send an official invitation letter for the Beijing Olympic Games to Olympic Committee representatives from all countries and regions in the world. This is the first time that the IOC has changed the ceremony of distributing invitations from its headquarters in Lausanne to the host country.

It is reported that in order to celebrate the penultimate anniversary, Hong Kong, Qingdao, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenyang, Qinhuangdao and other cities outside Beijing will also hold celebrations with strong local characteristics, reflecting the joy and passion of the whole country in welcoming the Olympic Games.
