In addition to the beautiful scenery, there are many historical sites around Yanqi Lake, which adds a heavy cultural connotation to this fertile soil. Since ancient times, there have been many rivers in Huairou, the most famous of which is Yanqi River. Yanqi Lake, formed by Yanqi River, has inherited the charm for more than 1000 years.

There is a saying about the name of Yanqi River. 1000 years ago, Xiao Taihou, a Liao country, crossed the river to enjoy flowers. The golden hairpin decorated with rockhopper was blown into the water by the wind and disappeared. Xiao Taihou sighed and said "extremely angry". Yanqi River was humiliated, so he wanted to show his innocence.
