The foundation stone was laid for the Olympic Village Project of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2007 and delivered to BOCOG in early 2008. The Olympic Village is an important part of the Olympic Park of the 2008 Olympic Games. During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, it was the residence of athletes and officials from all over the world.

Beijing Olympic Village is located at the northern end of the central axis running through the north and south of the city. There are many cultural relics and famous buildings on this central axis, such as the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Olympic Park. The Olympic Village is divided into residential areas and international areas. Covering an area of 66 hectares, it is located in the Olympic Park, adjacent to the forest park in the north and the main stadium area in the south, with beautiful environment and convenient transportation.

In addition to athletes' apartments, the residential area also has athletes' comprehensive clinics, restaurants, multi-functional libraries, entertainment centers, leisure sports areas and other related service facilities. Leisure sports areas include gymnasiums, swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts and jogging tracks. The international zone is a place for welcoming ceremonies and other delegation reception activities.

The total construction area of apartments in the Olympic Village is 370,000 square meters. All apartments are located in permanent buildings, including 22 6-storey buildings and 20 9-storey buildings with the same architectural style. The per capita living area will reach more than 22 square meters.

The Olympic Village will be opened two weeks before the opening of the Olympic Games. By then,16,000 athletes and officials (including 7,000 paralympics) will be provided with housing, living, leisure and entertainment services.

The completed Olympic Village has the characteristics of the most concentrated athletes, the longest stay and the richest functions. It is a window that fully embodies the "distinctive and high-level" Olympic Games and the three concepts of "green Olympics, high-tech Olympics and people's Olympics". The Olympic Village will become a green home for athletes and officials from all over the world to feel the splendid culture of the Chinese nation and taste the international modern lifestyle, and will also become a model of sustainable residential community.

According to the person in charge of the Olympic Village construction unit, Guoao Investment Development Co., Ltd., after the 2008 Olympic Games, the Olympic Village will be transformed and delivered as a residential project. This residential project will be sold to the public before the Olympic Games.
