"Wulin is famous for its complicated ceremony and strict mentoring relationship. If you want to become a formal disciple of our school, you have to go through a series of procedures, such as the teacher repeatedly testing for a long time, being qualified and recognized, being introduced, writing an application and then holding a grand ceremony to learn from the teacher. During the ceremony, the disciples made three obeisances to Master, presented the posts they had learned from Master, including a pressing ceremony, and signed the posts by Master and two or more witnesses before they could enter our school and become the initial disciples of Master. Beginner disciple, also known as lineal disciple, is the first beginner disciple to enter our school, called master elder brother, also called pioneer disciple; The first disciple who finally entered our school was called Little Brother, also known as the Close Disciple. Without going through the above procedures, I learned boxing from Master. Those who are good at kung fu are also disciples of our master, but they can only be called registered disciples, not beginners. He is neither a beginner nor a registered disciple. He just learned boxing from the master, called apprentice, student, apprentice.
This is a description of the relationship between master and apprentice in ancient and modern times. "Teacher, preach and teach!" In the traditional culture of China, special attention is paid to the dignity of teachers. "Respecting teachers and valuing morality" is the accumulation of thousands of years' culture in China, and it is also an important guarantee for the cultural development in China.
"Appreciating teachers" is the most important thing in learning traditional skills. Many traditional projects in China focus on learning skills from teachers, such as traditional culture such as opera, calligraphy, Chinese painting, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Martial arts is no exception. Without a master, it is "water without a source, wood without a root". Strictly speaking, without a teacher, it is not an introduction. People in the industry generally think that it is "not born in the door" and "irregular".
1. Why do you need a teacher to learn boxing?
In ancient times, the inheritance of a skill was very strict, and all walks of life had their own unique skills of keeping secrets from others. Without learning from the teacher, it is difficult to shoulder the heavy responsibility of inheriting this skill. Apprenticeship, ostensibly a form, is actually a continuation of skills and a cultural heritage. The ancients attached great importance to the relationship between master and apprentice, which was often mysterious and difficult for outsiders to see. After the reform and opening up, traditional culture has received due attention, and famous teachers from all walks of life have accepted disciples, so that the essence of traditional skills and culture can be passed down from generation to generation.
The traditional mentoring relationship is second only to the father-son relationship, that is, as the saying goes, "My parents gave birth to me and taught me to be a teacher", "Being a teacher is like being reborn" and "Being a teacher for a day and being a father for life" fully illustrates the importance of mentoring relationship. In some industries, once they enter the teacher's school, they are all disciplined by the master, and parents have no right to interfere or even meet. Although modern society does not have to stick to the old customs and rituals, it naturally needs grand customs and rituals to establish this great relationship to confirm and protect it.
Modern people learn martial arts mostly to "keep fit and prolong life". The purpose of learning martial arts in ancient times has changed in essence. When the ancients created Wushu, under the background of that era, Wushu must be put first, followed by fitness. However, in modern society, the offensive and defensive functions of Wushu have gradually weakened, and all the superficial things like Wushu are popularized. Wushu, which can "defend itself against the enemy", "strengthen the body and prolong life", is not popularized at all, and even its inheritance is facing a crisis. This is the lack and sorrow of Wushu inheritance. I want to ask: when hundreds of millions of people all over the world are learning Wushu, how much can the original connotation of Wushu be preserved? If we don't tap the essence of inheriting Wushu, how long will the vitality of Wushu last?
Popularization does not necessarily mean inheritance, and the essence can never be popularized. Therefore, learning from teachers has become an important way to inherit the essence of Chinese studies, even irreplaceable. If you are a person who wants to learn martial arts and have no desire to learn from the teacher, how can the teacher give you everything? In other words, why should a teacher teach the essence of Chinese studies to a person who is not enterprising and responsible?
Second, how should people who want to learn from their teachers choose their masters?
If you want to learn from a teacher, choose a good teacher first. It's hard to find a master of virtue and art. In fact, a pair of teachers and apprentices who hit it off is also an extremely rare fate. The master is also painstakingly looking for an apprentice who can rely on what he has learned all his life; Students also want to find a master with both ability and political integrity in the vast sea of people. You can't be a master and apprentice without a chance. So, if there is an opportunity, cherish it! Once you miss it, you may miss your life!
So, what kind of master should I worship? My suggestions are: first, worship the master you can reach, and second, worship the master who suits you. There are many masters, only to hear their voices but not to see their faces. They don't touch each other a few times a year, or even a few times in their lives. What are the benefits? Although there are many famous teachers, it is hard to find a master, not seeking fame, but seeking both morality and art, what suits you is the best.
No matter which school, there are only a few who can be called masters. If you have a certain foundation and can meet such a long-admired and respected master, of course you can worship. Of course, worshipping such a master is mostly a name and a birthright, and rarely can you get really valuable knowledge. Because there are many disciples of the master, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands, it is impossible to teach one by one. It is a blessing to listen to some of his theories and opinions several times or get valuable advice. The only people who can really get their true stories are those who are valued around them. Ironically, some masters can't remember the names of their disciples at all, or even recognize their own disciples. How do you feel if you worship a master who can't even say his own name?
Apprenticeship is a major event in life, so don't act rashly. Before learning from the teacher, you must follow it for a period of time. If we think that the teacher has real material and is convinced by virtue, we can choose him as a teacher. If you only seek fame and fortune, you may delay your life, because according to the door rules, once you worship Master, you can't worship anyone else as a teacher unless Master dies or you get Master's consent. After you learn from the teacher, other teachers will not teach you skills easily if they know that you have a master. Therefore, once you make a mistake, you may achieve nothing and cause lifelong regret.
Wushu is a profound knowledge. If you want to be an excellent disciple, Master must pay a lot of sweat and effort. Appreciating teachers is not only an affirmation of teachers' hard work, but also the best way to inherit culture and skills.
Third, what is the difference between learning from the teacher and not learning from the teacher?
In short, learning from the teacher, for an apprentice, is to learn what others can't learn; For Master, the essence of martial arts is passed down from generation to generation. If you can become the inheritor of a certain sect, it is indeed a gratifying thing. Of course, it is very different from students without apprentices.
1. Formally speaking, not learning from teachers, just like our teachers and students at school, is the most common relationship between teaching and learning, which can only be called "teacher", and the close relationship can be called "master". After learning from the teacher, you can become a veritable "master-apprentice" relationship, and the apprentice can appropriately call the teacher "master" or "master", that is, you can become a teacher-student relationship linked by blood and become a "family" with blood thicker than water. People often say that "one day as a teacher, one life as a father" refers to this relationship.
2. After apprentices learn from their teachers, they will be written into the ancient martial arts inheritance pedigree, and modern society will be included in the "inheritance network", becoming a generation of inheritors of a certain sect and becoming a martial arts successor with "roots and red seedlings". This is a glorious mark of a person going down in history. For students without apprentices, there can be no record of inheritance. Whether or not to learn from a teacher is an important event in a person's life experience, second only to marriage and having children, so it is particularly important and cautious.
3. In teaching and learning, a responsible master will set an example after learning from the teacher, and will also "give everything" and pass on Wushu routines and techniques to his disciples without reservation. Disciples should strictly abide by the teacher's training, inherit the teacher's teachings, absorb its essence, form their own family, and achieve the unity of theory and law. Students without apprentices can't teach anything deeper after learning a certain degree. Therefore, as students, responsible teachers will also teach certain basic theories and boxing techniques of Wushu, so that students can take fewer detours or detours to keep fit, but it is difficult to make a breakthrough to a certain extent and may stop at a certain level.
The most important way to learn Wushu is to teach by example. Teachers usually teach students in the form of multiple classes, that is, one person teaches and many students follow suit. Moreover, the time for teachers to teach students is usually limited, just a period or a stage. However, when a master trains his apprentices, it is taught by one person or several apprentices together, and the master may devote his life to it.
After learning from the master, a very stable family relationship has been established between the master and the apprentice. Mentoring is a good relationship, really like father and son, like brothers and sisters, with broken bones and tendons. Even if we are separated from Wan Li, we will never lose our mutual affection. On holidays, or teachers' and Jenny's birthdays, or teachers' family events, or opening a business, accepting apprentices and other major events, disciples who are convenient usually visit teachers or attend in person, while those who are inconvenient can also express their greetings and concerns in various ways. Master will also treat his disciples like his own relatives. Of course, the master and apprentice may not keep in touch often because of busy work or other affairs, and it will not affect the reality of this relationship. Master and apprentice don't have to stick to form. If there is no apprentice, there is no such affection, so teachers and students can fall in love.
6. After learning from the teacher, a formal inheritance relationship is established, which relieves the worries of teaching and learning, so that the apprentice can study wholeheartedly and the master can teach wholeheartedly. If the apprentice learns and becomes a teacher one day, Master has the responsibility and obligation to introduce the apprentice to a higher-level master to teach. For students without apprentices, teachers do not assume this responsibility and obligation.
7. Appreciators should undertake the responsibility and obligation of inheriting, inheriting and carrying forward this martial art, and safeguard the academic dignity of this genre and the dignity of the master with practical actions. Ordinary students have no responsibility and obligation in this respect.
