Government schools, government-funded schools or autonomous schools
Local universities

Foreign schools/international schools
Q2 What are the entry requirements for studying in Singapore?
A. Different schools have different admission requirements. As English is the common language of teaching, most colleges and universities require students to reach a certain level of English. Generally speaking, there are the following English proficiency qualifications:
General Certificate of Secondary Education (GSCE)
TOEFL [Test of English as a Foreign Language]
Ielts (IELTS)
In addition to English proficiency requirements, different institutions and courses will have different admission requirements. Generally speaking, the basic application procedures for government schools, government-funded schools and independent schools are as follows:
Step 1: Apply for school 1
Parents or guardians of students will fill in the complete application form and submit all necessary original documents directly to the selected school for admission.
Step 2 (a): The school organizes the entrance examination and issues the notice.
If there are still places in the school, the school will organize entrance examinations for students who apply. If a student passes the entrance examination, the school accepts his application and issues a notice. The notice will indicate that the school accepts the applicant in principle. Applicants should apply for a student pass to the Immigration and Checkpoint Bureau (ICA) with the admission notice (see step 3 for details).
Whether a student can be admitted to the school depends on whether the student can obtain a student pass issued by the Immigration and Checkpoint Bureau (ICA) within two weeks after the notice is issued and notify the school.
Applicants with family permits or immigration exemption orders do not need to apply for a student permit from ICA. Once he/she passes the entrance examination, he/she can enter the school (see step 5 for details).
Step 2 (b): The school sends an application letter to ICA.
Before organizing the entrance examination, the school should submit to ICA the application for admission of applicants whose parents work in Singapore but have no family permission. The school will fax the application letter to ICA.
ICA takes over the entry of the applicant and issues an entry permit. Allow the applicant to take the school entrance examination (see step 2 (a) for details).
Step 3: Apply for the student pass of ICA.
The notice is valid for two weeks from the date of publication. Upon receipt of the notice, the applicant should immediately apply to ICA for a student pass. The applicant should show the official admission notice signed by the school to ICA.
Step 4: inform the school that it has obtained a student permit.
Within 2 weeks after the admission notice is issued, the applicant must inform the school that he has obtained a valid student permit, otherwise he will not be admitted.
Step 5: Donate to the Education Fund.
After the applicant successfully enters the school, the Ministry of Education will send a letter asking the applicant to donate to the education fund. The donation is paid every two years, and the amount of each donation is S $65,438+0,000.

Now it's finally here, and it really doesn't disappoint me. Living and studying in Singapore not only broadens my international horizons, but also helps me understand various cultures and religious beliefs. The school attaches importance to moral education and civic education and strives to cultivate outstanding talents who are responsible to society. "
-this is Richmond Ang's experience. He 17 years old, Filipino. In 2003, the student was enrolled in the ASEAN Middle School Scholarship and the fourth grade of Raffles College.
"Education in Singapore is not limited to the classroom. At school, besides studying hard and preparing for exams, I also try to get in touch with different things and increase my knowledge. The school dormitory environment is good, and all activities are arranged in an orderly manner. Besides attending classes, we also participate in extracurricular activities arranged by the school. For example, the school sometimes arranges for us to visit orphans in orphanages. These activities have helped me learn a lot about life and become a more caring person. "

"Since I arrived in Singapore, I feel that Singapore's education system really deserves its reputation. The reason why I chose to study in Singapore is because I regard the campus as the starting point for understanding the society. Living in the dormitory, I live with classmates from different countries, become good friends with like-minded classmates, and establish precious friendship. Studying in Singapore is not easy, but I can receive a comprehensive education. During the two years of studying abroad, I feel more mature and independent than before. After receiving education here, I am more confident to cope with the next stage of study and future career. In short, I am more confident to face life. "
-Liu Shangzhao, aged 15, Malaysian. In 2003, the student attended the ASEAN Secondary Scholarship and Raffles College.
"I chose to study in Singapore because it can provide me with an international, high-quality education system and a good learning environment. I studied in Raffles for two years, and under the influence of the school, my academic performance, personality and leadership have made great progress. A series of leadership courses organized by the school also cultivated my leadership ability. I am very grateful and miss the schools and teachers who raised and taught me. "
—— Xu Wei, 2 1 year-old, from Shanghai, China, 1999 to 2000, studied at Raffles College with the support of the Singapore International Foundation scholarship system. "Studying in Singapore is a brand-new experience for me. Here, extracurricular activities are as important as homework. I take part in extracurricular activities sponsored by the school every week. These extracurricular activities are very beneficial to my physical and mental development. I won't miss any activities. I also learned to allocate time and try my best to balance the relationship between my studies and extracurricular activities. There are also many facilities near the dormitory that interest Singapore, such as rock climbing and gymnastics facilities. In a word, studying and living in Singapore is a pleasure for me. I will continue my studies here. "
-Xia Tianqing said with deep understanding. This student is from Wuhan, China, with the age of 19. From 2000 to 2002, he studied at Raffles College with the support of the scholarship system of Singapore International Foundation. Although their languages are different, this has not become an obstacle to our communication. My teacher is also very friendly. They arranged for us to take part in various meaningful activities. I have mastered a wealth of knowledge here, and I will continue to learn and explore new knowledge. I am really happy here. "

"Because the tuition is expensive and I don't want to stay away from my family, I never thought about going abroad for further study until I was lucky enough to get a scholarship in Singapore. After I personally experienced the life of studying in Singapore, I realized that studying abroad was not as terrible as I thought. Singapore's climate and food tastes are similar to Indonesia's, and I have met many fellow villagers who study here. It only takes two hours to fly back to Indonesia from Singapore, and it is also convenient to visit relatives in my hometown during the holidays. Currently studying at Nanyang Technological University, it is the best university of its kind in Asia. According to a survey conducted by the influential magazine Asia Weekly in 2000, teachers in Singapore are not only good at teaching, but also responsible. Once, I had to give a speech at a seminar. I confided my worries to my tutor. He not only replied to me quickly, but also rehearsed with me and put forward his own opinions to make my speech more profound and powerful. "

If there are places for foreign students to enter the school, you must pass the school entrance examination before you can enter the school.
If you pass the school entrance examination, the school will send you a notice.
The notice is valid for two weeks. During this period, you must apply for your student permit from ICA Department of Singapore Immigration Bureau. Please inform your school after the student permit is approved.
When you successfully enter the school you enrolled in, the Ministry of Education will send a donation notice to your parents or guardians, asking you to donate S $ 1000. This donation is paid every two years until you graduate.

In addition, international students can take the qualification examination and apply for more than 80 public schools. The government entrance examination organized by the Singapore Principals Association (PAI) aims to facilitate foreign students to apply for local schools and solve the problem that they have to take different entrance examinations in different schools many times. However, PAI can't arrange schools for students. Students must submit their applications directly to the school.
