In Mengjin County in the Ming Dynasty, there was a governor named Chen, and the legend about him being an official and a teacher has been passed down to this day.
Chen Dutang, formerly known as Xiaohe, lives in Chenhe Village in the northwest of the old city. He lost his father when he was a child, lived on his mother's firewood and wanted to study very much. On this day, when he was walking back from selling firewood in the county, he heard the sound of reading and couldn't help but go in and look at the windowsill. The old gentleman took him home, and he told his family background and his desire to study. The old man was very moved, so he accepted him as a disciple, not only free of tuition but also subsidized pen and ink, and gave him a name called Chen Dongcai. Chen Dongcai was worried about his mother's illness, so he got up at the crow, cooked some gruel, stuffed two lunches in his arms, and then hurried to school to study. I also sell firewood in my spare time. He has great respect for Mr. Wang and often takes time to help him carry water and push the mill. Seeing that he is diligent and studious, Mr. Wang taught him wholeheartedly.
Four years later, his mother could no longer take care of herself, so he had to go home and serve everywhere. In the evening, after my mother had a rest, I studied hard by myself.
