I have had mild symptoms of sciatica since college (I didn't know it was called sciatica at that time, and I didn't know it was lumbar disc herniation), that is, there was a numbness in my left hip near the lumbar spine, and the onset time was irregular because the symptoms had little effect. It was two or three years before I remembered to go to the hospital for examination and had an X-ray. The doctor said no problem and didn't tell me what it was.

After work, this symptom became more and more serious, slowly began to affect life, and became more and more painful, so I began to observe the law of this problem. When you have an attack, you can't bend over. The more you bend over, the more painful it is, and the more comfortable it will be to lie down. By chance, I found that squatting in the toilet (the kind of toilet I have sat in) is actually effective for this problem, and it won't hurt after several squats. So I went to the bathroom as soon as I had an attack. It's really pure squat, but I found that the effect of pure squat is not very good. It only works if I really squat down. . . Later, I reflected that it may be that in addition to this squatting posture, I have to use this posture to stimulate my nerves to relax. ! After a long time, I solved it in this way. When it hurts, go down and come out for half an hour. It's refreshing.

A few years later, although I was glad that there was a big move to solve this problem, the symptoms became more and more serious. When you have an attack, you can't sleep when you lie down, and the big move of squatting in the toilet is gradually useless. I was really helpless, so I had to run to the hospital. The doctor suggested that taking CT can see more clearly than X-ray. Results The doctor said that the position of L5S 1 (between the sacrum and the last lumbar vertebra) was slightly prominent (I felt so serious, but it was only slight? )。 Then the doctor did not give constructive advice. A doctor said don't do any exercise and have more rest. Another doctor said, don't take more exercise and rest when you have an attack, exercise when you don't have an attack, and strengthen the training of your back muscles. I tend to trust the second doctor, but it's not very useful. I can't answer what I can do when sciatica attacks. It's no use resting. Lying down for a few days still hurts. One day it was really painful. I had nothing to do at home. I happened to have a massage card, so I went to the massage shop for a massage. After the massage, I accidentally found that it didn't hurt. Later, I tried it several times and it really worked. When I have an attack, ask the technician to help me press my hips more (generally experienced technicians know how to press them as soon as they hear that it is lumbar disc herniation or sciatica). It doesn't hurt after pressing it, and the whole person is more relaxed than before.

The good times didn't last long. I used too much massage and began to feel a little weak. It's really comfortable to press behind, but it still feels a little nerve-crushing. Fortunately, I found that using my squatting skills after massage is actually effective. After two strokes, the feeling of compressing the nerves is completely eliminated and comfortable.

Because the frequency of attacks is getting higher and higher after work, I have been observing what triggered my sciatica attacks. Anyway, it happens from time to time, and I'm not afraid to lose one more time. The most important thing is to find the root cause of this trigger, and then I can find a way to completely eliminate it. After repeated attempts, I finally really found the reason, thank goodness. I found that the root cause was the gym (because I didn't think fitness was the direct cause of my illness before, so I kept insisting). Later, after practicing in the gym several times, I began to get a little scared. Really can't exercise? But it's strange why I have nothing to do with fitness before, and I only practiced once, and I have an attack these times. In order to find out the reason, I continued to go to the gym and used the elimination method. Finally, it is found that a stretching action that I just learned recently is the root cause of the attack. It is the action of putting one leg on the other thigh, then holding the wall with both hands, and hanging down for half a squat to stretch the hip muscles (that is, stretching the hip while squatting, which is a bit like crossing your legs).

After further experiments and various attempts, I can finally come to a conclusion. When the stress on the waist is uneven, it is easy to cause nerve compression. Among them, the common trigger actions are: crossing legs, stretching one hip and squatting on the other, cow face yoga, dumbbell bending with different weights left and right or dumbbell bending on one side.

Thankfully, I finally found my pathogenesis, and I haven't had an attack for a long time. In retrospect, I really loved crossing my legs when I was a child, even in class. Doctors always say it's a sedentary problem. I always thought I was sedentary, and so were others. Why do I have problems when others have no problems? Now I know that my legs are different from others. The experience here is shared with you, and the conclusion is only for people like me, but the method of finding roots by myself is worth learning. As long as we find the root cause, we can live a happy life from now on, haha.

Finally, I would like to add a few points. I found that lumbar disc herniation will not only lead to obvious symptoms of sciatica, but also have other symptoms. One is that the knees are weak when walking, and the neuralgia will always exist for a few days after the onset. From time to time, I have a feeling of suddenly softening and wanting to kneel down. The other is that when I was in leg press, I felt a slight numbness in the outside of my calf, and then I recently found that the outside of my calf was very painful when I was doing the posture of bending my arm.

I got sick again some time ago, avoiding all the trigger reasons mentioned above, and actually started to attack again, which made me very upset, because I really couldn't think of any other reasons, except sedentary (sedentary is inevitable because of work). Is it really because of sedentary? I went to search some information and said that I should pay more attention to back exercise when I don't have an attack. Refer to Jeff's video for details. After practicing this, I feel that it still works, including when attacking. Although it is not recommended to practice, I try my best to practice seriously, which can really alleviate it. After a week or two of rest and adjustment, my mood recovered, and I began to continue my previous spirit of exploration, which finally made me find an imperceptible fuse. Actually, it's because of squatting, not the toilet squatting mentioned above, but the asian squat commonly used by China people. I found that every time I finish asian squat and sit for a long time, I will induce sciatica. It really hurts because of squatting, and it doesn't hurt because of squatting. It's amazing. Make up this little update and continue to exercise hard.

-2021June 15 update.

Massage is really a palliative, but sedentary often leads to illness. Recently, I found a reliable Chinese medicine clinic and received physical therapy (or osteopathic massage) from an experienced master. After coming up, I dragged it for half an hour, then poked it a few times at the nerve pressing place, and then used cupping to bleed. It seems that a set is much more reliable than massage, and it suits the right medicine. It's been a week since I finished it, and there is no obvious sign of recurrence. The actual effect is better than massage, see how long it can last.

-2021July 15 update.

Here comes the good news! Let's talk about the curative effect of traction and bloodletting in June. The effect is really better than massage. Can persist for a longer time without recurrence. If you don't have to go to work, it is not easy to relapse. It's probably enough to do it once. But I just need to go to work, so it will recur after a while, especially some actions that are particularly easy to cause nerve compression, which is difficult to avoid at work. It will recur after about 15 to 20 days of normal work, but it is better than all the methods tried before.

Finally, talk about the good news. After all, I did this traction+bloodletting in a more reliable and authentic Chinese medicine clinic. I was tested twice and the results were not good. Immediately recommended me to the curator, and I saw the resume of the ophthalmology curator. I graduated from doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, and studied under many masters of traditional Chinese medicine. I am proficient in all kinds of problems of backache. I asked about my illness briefly and treated my back as soon as I came up (I was unprepared for the first acupuncture, and it was quite painful). After acupuncture for about half an hour, I was given some Chinese medicine granules and western medicine pills, and boasted that I took the medicine every other day and took it three times. After eating it, I will live like a normal person and will not relapse. At that time, I was really excited and suspicious, as if I had met the feeling of a wonderful doctor in a TV series, but I wondered if there really was such a god. I asked, then why didn't traction and bloodletting work before? The curator said that the younger you are, the more difficult it is to treat the problem of lumbar disc herniation, because young people are very active in various functions, and ordinary treatment will easily rebound if there is a slight movement. On the contrary, the elderly have aging parts and are not easy to relapse. I heard that. Well, it seems quite reasonable. Keep asking, then why can acupuncture be used for you? The curator cleverly said in an understatement that in this case, you only need to use acupuncture to stimulate the prominent place to shrink back. This fucking acupuncture is amazing, isn't it? Anyway, let's try. What if it's really amazing? If not, I'll smash his signboard (just kidding, I don't have the guts).

Then talk about the curative effect of acupuncture+taking medicine. After the first acupuncture, the nerves were not relieved. I don't feel well. I'm in a hurry. The curator still said calmly, and so on. It will get better gradually. I will accept, I will endure. Magical things, gradually really began to happen, woke up the next day, yeah! There is really no pressure. In a few days, I finished the acupuncture for three times, and I can't wait to try this action that is easy to cause nerve compression. Nani, damn it, how can I hold down my nerves? I was so angry that I immediately ran to ask the curator. The curator is still an understatement, and so on. It will get better gradually. If you are not at ease, you can have another injection after it. Heart plug! Regret! I immediately decided to go to the needle to consolidate it, and then I would never try dangerous moves easily again. . .

Now, it's been 15 days since I wrote this passage. Because of my helplessness at work, I tried three dangerous moves. Miraculously, I really didn't press my nerves anymore. God, am I really going to be liberated? Thankfully, there really is an imperial doctor and a quintessence of Chinese culture.

Finally, I would like to give some small reminders to my friends who are still watching Chinese medicine in dire straits. The curator said it was risky to see Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine is easy to get started, but difficult to master. Just like practicing martial arts, it depends on personal understanding. Moreover, the prescription of traditional Chinese medicine is not as unified as that of western medicine. Although several doctors in China visit the same patient, the prescriptions they prescribe may be quite different. Just like cooking, the master cooks delicious food, but the method of frying is very different. So it's best to go to a reliable city and find a doctor with a reliable resume.

Besides, by the way, the curator acupuncture I mentioned above is not just acupuncture. After a small acupuncture for about 20 minutes, it seems that I still used a big needle to put some medicine on my back. I don't really understand it. I wish all my friends good health. If there is no accident, it should not come back to update. Goodbye.

I have to say that Chinese acupuncture is really effective. As I said before, I have had four injections and stopped. I didn't fully recover at first, and sometimes I still feel slight nerve compression. But magically, I feel time to go back, that is, when I first started suffering from this disease, the nerve compression was not so uncomfortable. I just lay in the position of nerve compression for 10 minutes, and I could relax and return to a state where I could completely solve it. I was in this state at first, but I am already satisfied, although it is not as completely cured as Chinese medicine said. However, magical things will really follow. In the last month, I actually slowly developed from an occasional mild attack to a month without an attack. It seems that I have really recovered. I didn't expect Chinese medicine to say, wait, it will get better slowly. It's true, but it's been a little long. . . Anyway, thank him very much. I've decided to think about Chinese medicine when I have time in the future. Sometimes it's not very clever, sometimes it's amazing, to see if I can stand it.
