Huanggang, an old revolutionary base area, is a big city with a population of more than 7.3 million, a large elderly population and many retired cadres. In recent years, under the guidance of the Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres of the Provincial Party Committee and the great attention of the Huanggang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, great changes have taken place in Huanggang's senior education and senior university work. The former Huanggang University for the Aged is located in the "Dongpo Chibi" scenic spot, with narrow space, backward design and aging facilities. In order to completely change the contradiction between the old cadres' learning activities and social development, satisfy the old cadres' knowledge, health, happiness and a sense of security, and serve the social spiritual and cultural needs, the municipal party committee and the municipal government have repeatedly studied and demonstrated according to the spirit of the relevant documents of the Central Committee and the provincial party committee, and regarded the construction of the university for the elderly as an important measure to promote the construction of the old cadres' learning activities and the project of "doing practical things for the people". The municipal government adopts BT investment, and Hubei Changqing Group undertakes the construction of Huanggang University for the Aged. The project started in March 20 10, and was completed in September 2011June. The project covers an area of 43.23 mu, with a building area of 15527.5438+0 square meters and a total investment of 46.8 million yuan. The completed university for the aged is divided into five areas: teaching, activities, office, outdoor leisure and reception service. The overall layout is reasonable, and the teaching activities are spacious and bright. There are a comprehensive classroom, dance, piano, calligraphy and painting, guzheng, vocal music and computer, school history exhibition hall, works exhibition hall, table tennis, billiards, mahjong, chess room, fitness room, rehearsal hall, ballroom and multi-functional hall for teaching, entertainment and activities. Since it was officially put into use, 12 majors and 29 classes have been offered in one semester. It provides a good service for old comrades to learn, teach, enjoy and write. However, we are also soberly aware that there is still a considerable gap between these achievements and those of provincial universities for the aged and those of brother cities and states. But through more exchanges and studies today and in the future, we also believe that Huanggang University for the Aged will surely achieve new and greater achievements in the future!
