Yamagishi Hidekamasa, 1973, was born in Hokkaido, Japan on June 30th, and has been interested in fitness since childhood. He takes part in various sports, such as baseball, football, gymnastics and martial arts. He started playing football when he was young. With his progress in sports, Yamagishi Hidekamasa realized that he needed to increase his muscle mass in order to compete with bigger athletes.

Therefore, Yamagishi Hidekamasa entered the local gym and began to lift weights day after day. At that time 15 years old, he weighed only 59 kilograms, which was already very thin for his age, but through hard training, he gained 23 kilograms when he graduated from high school.

After graduating from high school, 18-year-old Yamagishi Hidekamasa was admitted to Waseda University. He chose to study for a degree in sports nutrition to further expand his knowledge in fitness. In the second year of college, the young man won his first bodybuilding competition (National College Student Championship). He successfully defended his title in the third year of college and became a new star in Japanese bodybuilding in Ran Ran.

At the age of 25, Yamagishi Hidekamasa participated in his first official competition-JBBF Japan Competition (1998), and he ranked second in the welterweight competition, which gave him the motivation to pursue professional bodybuilding.

That year, Yamagishi Hidekamasa won the IFBB Asian Amateur Championship and his IFBB professional card, becoming the first professional bodybuilder in Japanese history.

In 2007, Yamagishi Hidekamasa won the third place in the Sacramento Professional Championship, and was qualified for Mr. Olympia for the first time, becoming the first Japanese to appear in Mr. Olympia's competition.
